Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a manual subscan type reader by storing a reading means in a housing to perform the electrical primary scan and at the same time performing the subscan in the direction rectangular to the primary scan direction by shifting manually the housing for execution of a reading action. CONSTITUTION:A reading means 3 contains an optical system consisting of light sources 6a and 6b a photoconductor 9, an image pickup element 10 and a circuit P panel 11. A subscan guide means 4 contains a subscan feed signal generating means consisting of a subscan guide member 12, a LED 13 and a photosensor 14, guide rolls 19a and 19b and a magnet 20. When a reading scan operation is carried out, a round rod 12c of the member 12 is hooked to the hook members 3a and 3b of the means 3. Then a connector 12d is connected to a connector 3c. Thus both means 4 and 3 are unified into a body and the means 3 is fed manually for subscan. Then an original 5 can be read and scanned.

2. Description of the Related Art In a conventional manual sub-scanning type reader, FIGS.
As shown in the figure, a belt-shaped guide means 2 for guiding manual sub-scanning is housed inside a housing 1 housing a reading means (not shown) in the same way as the reading means, to prevent meandering during manual sub-scanning. It was structured like this. Briefly explaining the operation, the band-shaped guide means 2 is urged to rotate in the direction of the arrow (FIG. 7) inside the housing, and the band-shaped guide means 2 is pulled out against this force and its tip 2a , and set it at the predetermined reading position while checking the reading position through the window 2b. While the main scanning is performed electrically by the reading means, manually move the housing in the direction of arrow B (Fig. 6) to scan the secondary. It performs sequential reading without scanning. Since this sub-scanning is carried out manually, a belt-shaped guide member 2 is provided to prevent the sub-scanning feed from meandering. ).
