As is well known, the sinker allows the knitting yarn to easily escape from the head of the latch needle of the knitting machine when the latch needle is performing knitting operation, and when the latch needle is rising, the sinker allows the knitting yarn inside the latch needle to rise. This prevents the knitting yarn from falling off from the tip of the opened latch. In this way, the sinker facilitates and reliably forms the loop of the latch needle.

Incidentally, in recent years, in order to improve productivity, it has been required to rapidly increase the operating rotational speed of knitting machines. This has led to new problems with the sinker that did not occur with conventional rotational speeds. That is, there is a problem of wear and breakage of the sinker due to contact between the sinker and the reciprocating motion control cam of the sinker. The possible causes of this problem are that as the rotational speed of the knitting machine increases, a strong impact force is applied to the sinker at the transition point of the sinker's reciprocating motion, and that the sinker guide groove and control The sliding speed with the cam becomes extremely high, increasing the resistance force.

The sinker of the present invention consists of a front part having a nose and a rear part having a control cam contact protrusion. It is characterized by a notch provided at the lower edge. Particular preference is given to providing elasticity in the height direction of the sinker and a reduction of at least 25% of the total weight by means of this partial reduction and cutout.

Regarding the front part A, the arc-shaped tip 3 is reduced to the extent that it does not cause problems in knitting, and the tip 3a is made.
Furthermore, the rear part 4 of the upper edge of the nose 1 is also reduced to form the rear part 4a.
It is said that Also, a notch 6 with a height H 1 is provided on the lower edge of the front portion A except for both ends. It is preferable that the corners of the cut and cut lines be formed into gentle curves to avoid concentration of force.

Figures 3 and 4 relate to sinkers of different shapes, with Figure 3 showing a conventional sinker and Figure 4 showing a conventional sinker.
The figure shows the second sinker of the present invention, which is an improved version of the sinker shown in Figure 3.
This is an example. Unlike the sinkers shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the sinkers shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 have a step between the front part A and the rear part B, and the control cam contact protrusion 2 is located at the rear. This is the end of part B. Other points are the same as in Figures 1 and 2,
Identical parts are given the same reference numerals.

FIGS. 5 and 6 relate to sinkers of yet another shape, and FIG. 5 shows a conventional sinker,
FIG. 6 shows a third embodiment of the present invention, which is an improved version of the sinker shown in FIG. In contrast to the sinker of FIGS. 1 to 4, the sinker of FIGS. 5 and 6 is provided with two control cam contact projections 2, 11 on the rear part B. The configuration of the sinker of this embodiment is similar to that of the first embodiment (second

As mentioned above, the sinker of this invention has a front part A.
This feature is characterized in that the tip 3 of the front part A is reduced and notches are provided in the lower edge part 5 of the front part A and the lower edge part 8 of the rear part, so that it has the following effects.

First of all, the weight is significantly reduced, and since it has elasticity in the height direction, the impact force at the transition point of the sinker reciprocating motion during high-speed operation of the knitting machine can be alleviated. Furthermore, since the length of contact with the sinker guide groove is significantly reduced, sliding resistance can be reduced. As a result, the sinker of the present invention saves labor during high-speed operation, and reduces damage and wear of the sinker. In particular, when the weight of the sinker is reduced by 25% or more as in this example, breakage of the sinker becomes almost non-existent, and wear on the sinker can be reduced to about 1/2 compared to the conventional type, making it possible to reduce the weight of the sinker by more than 25%. The result was that there is no problem in practical use as a sinker.
