Originally, barrels for barrel plating processes are broadly classified into horizontal rotation type and tilted rotation type depending on the direction of the rotation axis, but the horizontal rotation type has large processing capacity and ease of automation. things are becoming more widespread. Such horizontally rotating types generally have openings at both ends for attaching and detaching the cathode part, and numerous perforations in the side wall for the passage of plating solution, passage of electrolytic current, and draining water. It is widely known that the barrel is made of a cylindrical body with an opening/closing part on the side wall for loading and unloading the plated items. The barrel is immersed in a plating bath so that the axis passing through both openings is horizontal, and while rotating or rocking about the axis, plating the inside from both openings. between the cathode part inserted so as to make electrical contact with the product and the anode part placed on both sides in the plating bath so as to face the side wall of the barrel, that is, parallel to the above-mentioned axis. A method of energizing is used.

However, in the conventional horizontally rotating barrel as described above, (a) the plating solution and the electrolytic current pass through a large number of perforations in the side wall;
The bath composition inside and outside the barrel tends to be unbalanced, and the conductivity of the bath tends to be poor. It is difficult to introduce consistent automation and robotization of the plating process, and the opening/closing part tends to get clogged or remain with the previously plated product, which can become foreign matter and cause defects. (c) A large amount of washing wastewater is discharged when washing the coated products in the barrel, requiring large-scale wastewater treatment equipment to prevent pollution; (d) When the coated products are dried, the wastewater inside the barrel is It is necessary to transfer the plated products to a centrifugal dryer, etc., which reduces productivity and requires consistent automation of the barrel plating process.
There were problems such as hindering the introduction of robotization.

In addition, in order to improve the imbalance of bath composition inside and outside the barrel in the horizontally rotating barrel as described above,
The plating liquid is circulated from the opening at one end to the numerous perforations in the side wall, and the opening at one end serves as the entrance and exit for the plated items in order to improve the problem of getting the plated items in and out. However, these improvements are still only slightly improved, and it has not yet been possible to provide a fully completed barrel for the barrel plating process.

In order to achieve the above object, the barrel for the barrel plating process of the present invention has at least an opening for attaching and detaching the cathode part, taking in and out the plated article, circulating the plating solution, and passing the electrolytic current. An essential constituent feature is that it consists of an empty body with perforations on the side walls for draining water at both ends. Further, in the barrel plating method of the present invention, the barrel for the barrel plating process, into which the article to be plated is placed, is placed in a plating bath so that the axis passing through both openings thereof is substantially horizontal. The cathode part is inserted through both openings so as to make electrical contact with the internal plating product while being immersed in the plating bath and rotated or oscillated about its axis. An essential component is to conduct electricity between the anode portions arranged in such a manner.

Based on the above configuration, the present invention provides (a) a structure in which the plating solution and the electrolytic current pass through the openings at both ends, and from the opening at one end to the opening at the other end; Since the fixing liquid can be easily circulated, the bath composition inside and outside the barrel can be made uniform and the conductivity of the bath can be improved. Since entry and exit is done through the opening, the barrel structure is simplified and can be manufactured at low cost, eliminating the problem of foreign matter contamination, and further contributing to improved productivity, consistent automation of the barrel plating process, and robotization. c) Liquid can be easily distributed, circulated, and poured through the openings at both ends, so it can be used not only when barrel plating.
It is also useful for pre-treatment, washing with water, chromate treatment, etc. (d) Since it is possible to wash with water using a shower through the openings at both ends, the amount of washing wastewater is small and wastewater treatment is easy, contributing to pollution prevention. do, (e)
Effective ultrasonic cleaning of the coated product is possible through the openings at both ends, and ultrasonic waves are not attenuated by the porous walls as in conventional methods. (f) Through the openings at both ends, the internal Since the coated products can be dried with hot air in their entire barrel, there is no need to transfer the coated products to a separate dryer for drying, which improves productivity, enables consistent automation of the barrel plating process, and allows for robots. (g) During a series of processes in the barrel plating process, it is possible to easily observe the processing status of the internal plated product through the openings at both ends. When the plating bath is transparent, excellent effects such as being able to easily grasp the plating state of the plated item and the progress of the plating can be achieved.

Although it is possible to take in and take out a covered item from the opening of a conventionally known barrel that is open at only one end, it is possible to take in and take out a covered item from the opening, but because the other end is closed, it is not possible to use a barrel such as the one according to the present invention. The above effects cannot be fully expected. For example, in a barrel that is open at only one end, the plating solution tends to stagnate inside the barrel during barrel plating, and even if the anode is placed opposite the opening of the barrel, the opening Since it is biased only at one end, the passage resistance of the electrolytic current is still large, and therefore problems such as reducing the concentration difference and composition difference in the plating bath between the inside and outside of the barrel, and improving the conductivity of the bath cannot be satisfactorily solved.

In the present invention, there is no particular restriction on the shape and structure of the hollow body constituting the barrel for the barrel plating process, and within the scope of achieving the object of the present invention,
This ensures that the loaded products will not leak or scatter to the outside from the openings at both ends during barrel plating or other processing, and that the removal opening will face downward when removing the internal coated products. Any material may be used as long as it allows the covered product to be smoothly discharged by being swung. Such an empty body, for example, has a tapered shape in the direction of its opening, and more specifically, for example, has a shape tapered in the axial direction of a cylindrical body, a cylindrical body, a rectangular cylinder, and other modified versions thereof. It is possible to adopt a structure in which a truncated conical cylinder or a truncated pyramidal cylinder is formed on both sides.

In addition, during barrel plating, baffles and other protrusions are installed inside the hollow body so that the internal plated product can roll smoothly as the barrel for the barrel plating process rotates or oscillates around its axis. The body may be attached in a known manner. In addition, the perforations provided in the side wall for draining water only need to be used for draining water.
It may also have a slit shape.

The barrel 1 is rotated sequentially through the intermediate gear 11 on the upper part 2 and the driven gear 6 on the barrel 1, and the cathode part 20 and the anode part are injected and circulated in the opening 4 as necessary. By supplying current between the two electrodes 21, 21, good barrel plating can be achieved. At this time, the plating liquid flows through the barrel 1 without stagnation, passing through the openings 4, 4 at both ends, and the electrolytic current also flows through the openings 4, 4 at both ends.
It is possible to pass between the anodes 21, 21 and the cathode 20, that is, the coated article 8, without significant resistance.
