Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a small and light-weight device and at the same time reduce a drive power supply capacity by making available a function to cut recording paper, make the pressing force of a thermal head variable and separate the thermal head from a platen using a single motor. CONSTITUTION:A motor 1 is connected to a platen pulley 14 incorporating a one-way clutch which is installed on the shaft of a platen 3 through a timing belt 13. Further the motor 1 is connected to a cutter gear 12 containing the one-way clutch which is installed on the rotary blade shaft of a cutter 2 by way of another timing belt 10 and an idler gear pulley 11. A cam 5 is fixed to the rotary blade shaft of the cutter 2. A power is transmitted only to the platen 3 by the normal rotation of the motor 1 to feed recording paper 9. In addition, a power is transmitted only to the rotary blade of the cutter 2 by the reverse rotation of the motor 1 to cut the recording paper 9. The cam 5 and a rocker arm 6 are always in a rolling contact, thus changing the pressing force of a thermal head 4. As mentioned above, recording paper feed and cutting and the change of pressing force by the thermal head can be performed by a single motor.
