Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism of an ink jet recorder by operating an ink supply system using a power for a head movement mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet head 1 moves following the movement of a belt, which is a head movement power transmission mechanism for transmission of a power for an electric motor which is a power source for head shift. This enables formation of characters on the surface of paper. When the quantity of an ink in the head has reduced because of printing, the above-mentioned electric motor 6 is rotated so that the head 1 may move to the left end of the figure. Then the head 1 contacts a pump 2 which is an ink supply means and thereby a power for the electric motor 6 is transmitted to the pump 2. Thus the pump 2 is actuated, causing the ink in an ink tank 4 to be sucked out into the head 1 after passing through a channel 9.
