Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a molded body, the strength of which is enhanced and which is surpassed in beauty by hardening its surface by a method wherein the surface of an expansion-molded plastic is compressed under heat. CONSTITUTION:By compressing a foam 2 under the condition that its skin is melted by being heated up to a temperature of about 100-150 deg.C, the resultant molded body consists of hardened parts 3 at its surfaces and a cellular part 4 at its central portion, the tissue of which is left unchanged before and after the above-mentioned compression under heat. Accordingly, the surfaces of the molded body 1 can have the same extreme smoothness and beauty as those of the conventional unexpanded plastic or low expanded plastic due to the hardened part 3. At the same time, because the cellular part 4 exists in the interior of the molded body, the molded body is excellent in heat insulating property. When various patterns are formed onto the foam 2 during the stage of compression under heat, more favorable effect is given to the molded body in respect to its beauty.

(bl) Conventional foam consists of numerous hollow cells and membranes that separate them. These cells include closed cells that are completely separated by membranes and open cells that communicate with each other. Each type of plastic has different properties and uses.In other words, new properties can be obtained by foaming plastics, and properties such as heat insulation, sound absorption, buoyancy, elasticity, and light weight are particularly utilized.

(C) Problems to be solved by the invention However, foams are very weak in terms of strength and cannot be used for interior decoration.
It was used only as an fT heating material, or used only in cases where high strength was not required, such as in food containers. In addition, if some strength is required,
It was necessary to lower the foaming ratio, increase the wall thickness, and even reinforce it with iron or wood. Furthermore, due to the nature of foam, it has a rough texture and appearance, so it has almost no aesthetic sense and has a strong image of being cheap (and by itself, it had an inferior commercial value).

(d) Means for solving the problem As a result of intensive research, the inventor of the present invention has developed a method that takes advantage of the excellent properties of foam, such as being lightweight and has high heat insulation properties, while increasing strength and improving aesthetics. We have now developed an excellent molded product.

Figure 1 shows an example of the molded body (1) according to the present invention, in which the surface layer of the foamed body (2) is compressed while being heated and melted at about 100 to 150°C, thereby hardening the surface. It consists of a hardened part (3) that has been hardened, and a bubble part (4) that remains in the central part without changing its structure.

Therefore, the surface of the molded product (11) can be made very beautiful due to the hardening part (3), similar to conventional non-foamed plastics or low-foamed plastics, and at the same time there are bubble parts (4) inside. , it has excellent heat insulation properties.

Such a plate-shaped molded product (1) has a completely different appearance from the foamed product (2), so it can be used for various building materials such as roofing materials and wall materials, housings for tables and electrical appliances, etc.
It can be used exposed to the outside as a decorative board like a conventional plastic board.

In this case, it is more effective in terms of aesthetics if various patterns are formed on the foam (2) at the stage of heating and compressing.

In addition, if it is a cup-shaped molded product (1) used for containers such as instant noodles as shown in Fig. 2, its inner and outer surfaces can be made smooth.
It gives the impression of a chinaware or plastic container, and has a much higher sense of cleanliness than conventional foam (2).
Since the hardened portion (3) has a hardened surface, it is easy to clean and can be reused, and moreover, it can be used more frequently.

FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of the present invention, showing a molded body (1) used as a packaging material. In this case, it can serve the same role as a cushioning material without increasing the wall thickness as much as in the past, and the bulk is reduced, reducing packaging, transportation, and storage costs. Then, as a result of heating and compressing the surface to form a hardened part (3), it becomes more complete in terms of waterproofing, so it becomes possible to store it in the open by packaging it with this, and the above-mentioned effect is achieved. This will help further.

Here, the surface to be heated and compressed may be applied over the entire surface of the molded object (1), but for example, the part that comes into contact with the object to be packed (5) is a conventional foam (2), that is, the cell part (4). It is more preferable to leave it as it is and heat and compress only the outer surface to form the hardened part (3), in order to avoid damaging the object to be packed (5).

As shown in Fig. 4, if the shape of the object to be packed (5) is not too complicated, the plate-shaped foam (2) can be heated and compressed to make it conform to the object to be packed (5). A molded body (11) may be used.

(fl Effects of the Invention As described above, the molded article according to the present invention is made by heating and melting the surface of the foam and compressing it, thereby hardening the surface and strengthening it without impairing the heat insulation properties of the foam. It has the extremely beneficial effect of being able to maintain a certain level of strength without needing to be very thick, making it possible to use it alone as it can be finished with a high, smooth and beautiful finish. It has the following.
