2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, this type of iron had a construction as shown in Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 59-41837. That is, as shown in Figure 3,
32 is a heater that heats the base 31; 33 is a base 3;
1, a cover 34 is a conductor made of a metal member, one end of which is electrically connected to the heater 32, and the other end of which is connected to the hollow part 36 of the handle 35 provided on the cover 33. It stands out. Inside this hollow part 36, it was electrically connected to a power cord 37 via screws 38, etc., and the hollow part 36 was covered with a handle back plate 39.

(1) Since the parts that protect the live parts are also used as the parts that make up the outer part of the iron, such as the handle back plate 39 and the handle 35, for example, if the handle back plate 39 is damaged for some reason. Because the charging points were exposed, there was a risk of electric shock. Conventionally, countermeasures for this have been to use materials with strength resistance for the parts that cover these live parts, increase the wall thickness, and add reinforcing ribs. Both of these factors were responsible for high costs.

(2) Furthermore, as a safety standard, standards for heat resistance and flame resistance of materials for covering live parts are becoming stricter. Therefore, in the past, it has been common to use thermosetting resin such as phenol as the material for the handle 35, the handle back plate 39, and the like. However, in recent years, the exterior parts of irons have become more colored, and thermoplastic resins have been increasingly used as materials for the exterior parts. However, thermoplastic resins are generally inferior in heat resistance, especially flame resistance, compared to thermosetting resins, so as a countermeasure to this problem, it is necessary to use materials of a type and grade with excellent heat resistance and flame resistance for materials that cover live parts. In addition, in conventional models, the parts that cover the live parts are also used as the parts that make up the outer shell, such as the handle and the back plate of the handle, so the cost is very high due to the increased weight of the material used. It became.

Effects According to the configuration of the present invention, only the connecting portion between the conductor and the power cord needs to be surrounded by the protective member, and only the protective member needs to be made of a material with excellent heat resistance and flame resistance, so that the cost is reduced. In the diagram 1, 2 is a heater that heats the base 1, and 3 is a heater that heats the base 1.
is a cover that covers the top side of the pace 1; 4 is a conductor made of a metal member; one end of which is electrically connected to the heater 2; the other end is connected to the handle 5 provided on the cover 3; It protrudes into the hollow part θ. The power cord 7 is electrically connected within the hollow portion 6 via screws 8 and the like. 9 is a protective member made of a material with excellent heat resistance and flame resistance, and it does not completely cover live parts such as the conductor 4 and screws 8, but only needs to surround the conductor 4 and the connection points.
Even if a material that is small in shape and has excellent heat resistance and flame resistance (generally expensive) is used, the cost will not increase significantly. Furthermore, the materials of the parts constituting the outer shell, such as the handle 6 and the handle back plate 10, are particularly heat-resistant.
Since there is no need to use materials with excellent flame resistance, it is possible to achieve a significant cost reduction compared to conventional methods, and even if the handle 6 or the handle back plate 1o is damaged, for example, the handle can be placed inside. Since the protective member 9 covers and protects the live parts, there is also a risk of electric shock, etc. The protection member 9 may be made of a metal member as long as it is arranged so as to maintain electrical insulation from the conductor 4, screw 8, and other charged parts.

It is constructed using a material with excellent flame resistance (for example, a thermosetting resin such as phenol, or a metal member). Effects of the Invention As is clear from the above description, the present invention provides protection against damage to external parts such as the handle and handle back plate by surrounding the live parts such as the connection part between the conductor and the power cord with a protective member. Since the protective member protects the live parts, there is no risk of electric shock, etc., and only the protective member is made of a material with excellent heat resistance and flame resistance. Since these parts may be made of general materials, a great effect can be obtained in terms of cost.
