Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent wear of the ball seat of a ball point pen whose tip is made of metal due to rolling of a ball, by using a specified substance as the lubricant in a water based ink containing a pigment. CONSTITUTION:This water based ink composition for writing utensils is a water based ink which at least contains a pigment as coloring agent and has a substance of the formula (wherein R is 5-20C alkyl; m is 0 or an integer of 1-10; n is 1 or 2; M is sodium, potassium, ammonium or an amine salt) incorporated therein as lubricant. The amount of this lubricant is preferably 0.05-10wt% of the water based ink.

(Prior art and its problems) Conventional writing instruments using metal tips include water-based metal ballpoint pens that use water-based ink consisting of pigments and water-based media, but because of the water-based medium, carbide balls and balls with metal tips The lubrication of the catch was not smooth, and the ball catch wore out during writing, making it impossible to write many letters. In order to improve this drawback, there are measures such as ■ Adding an activator as a lubricant ■ Increasing the amount of glycols in the ink to increase the viscosity.
1) The addition of an activator lowers the surface tension of the water-based ink, causing handwriting to smear. (2) An increase in the viscosity of the ink due to an increase in the amount of glycols has a disadvantageous tendency in both cases.
