T,lBで表わされる。フイツシユテール部は工業
的に使用不可能となり、切り捨てなければならな
いため、製品の歩留り低下の原因となつている。

本発明の要旨とするところは、加熱炉から出た
スラブの進行方向に沿つてスラブの先後端を縮幅
成形するプレス装置と、スラブを幅方向に圧延す
る竪型圧延機とを互いに近接して配置したものに
おいて、前記竪型圧延機のロールを開放した状態
で該加熱炉から導かれたスラブの先後端の双方を
共に前記プレス装置により縮幅成形を施し、次い
でこのスラブをその後端位置が竪型圧延機のロー
ル装置を通過して該プレス装置の反対側の位置に
来るように進行せしめ、次に前記竪型圧延機のロ
ール装置でのスラブの最初の幅方向圧延は、プレ
ス装置のプレスを開放した状態で前記スラブの後
端から先端にかけて進行するように、丁度逆方向
にパスにて行うことを特徴とするスラブ圧延方法
にある。

の発生を抑制した縮幅予成形加工後に前記後端部
から先端部にかけての領域をスラブの長手方向に
沿つて竪型圧延機のロールでもつて縮幅圧延する
ものであることから、フイツシユテールの発生し
易いスラブの先後端部を竪型圧延機のロールで縮
幅圧延する量を僅かにでき、よつて前記スラブの
縮幅成形に際してフイツシユテールが発生するこ
とを抑制し得るものとなり、従つて上述した目的
が達成できることになる。

自在に取付けられ、且ピストン16,16′は架
台17により支持されたシリンダ15,15′に
収納され板幅方向に往復動する。幅圧延機8は先
後端にテーパ成形されたスラブ5を圧延するため
の一対のロール18,18′を有する。このロー
ル18,18′はチヨツク19,19′によつて支
承され、且ジヤツキ20,20′に設けたスクリ
ユウ21,21′によつてフレーム22内を板幅
方向に往復動する。
