Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable normal printing to be performed even where one or more of printing wires are broken, by a method wherein a printing head is moved upward or downward according to breakage information on the printing wires, a reprinting signal is generated, data necessary for reprinting is taken out, and is shiftedly transmitted to a normal one of the printing wires. CONSTITUTION:When one of a group of printing wires 21-27 is broken, a broken-wire number 10 is inputted to a controlling circuit 11, and normal printing for one line is performed. Rotation of a platen 7 is momentarily stopped by a signal 11c from the controlling circuit 11, and an AND gate 14 so functions that dot data to be transmtited to the broken printing wire is shiftedly transmitted to a normal one of the printing wires, based on a signal 11b. On the other hand, the controlling circuit 11 forms a signal 11a for moving a printing head 6 upward or downward by a one-dot amount, based on the broken-wire number 10. Under this condition, the head 6 is horizontally moved according to a printing signal 3a and a horizontal-movement signal 3b from the controlling circuit 11, and corrective overprinting of missing dots in the one line previously printed is performed for all of the relevant characters in the line.

As is well known, a dot printer prints by a combination of several dots in the vertical direction and several dots in the horizontal direction, as shown in Figure 4. For example, a character consisting of 7 dots vertically and 4 dots horizontally. For example, consider the case of printing the character "Japanese", and there is data corresponding to the dot O in FIG. 4.

Thereafter, a signal (3b) from the timing circuit (8) is supplied to the head horizontal drive circuit (5), which causes the print head (6) to move horizontally by one dot. Next, the signal (3a) from the timing circuit (8) is transmitted to the register (2).

The above operation is also performed for the 0 column and the D column, and after repeating a total of 4 times, printing of the characters for "day" is completed.

In the wire dot printer according to the present invention, the first circuit means moves the print head up and down according to the print wire defect information.
t is moved downward, while the second circuit means generates a reprint signal, the third circuit means is used to extract only the data necessary for reprinting, and the circuit means of wc4 transmits it to the originally defective wire. The output of the fifth circuit means should be shifted and transmitted to the normal printing wire.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of an embodiment of the present invention, in which the same reference numerals as in FIG. 2 are used to designate the same elements. αD other than these inputs the missing wire number information (hereinafter referred to as the missing wire number) aol and generates a signal for moving the head up and down (10a), a signal for shifting dot data and transmitting it to other wires (11b), and a signal for shifting the dot data to other wires (11b). A control circuit that outputs a signal (11c) that temporarily stops the rotation, and a signal (1a) for normal operation.
On the other hand, the signal when there is large input missing wire information (11c)
is the other input and the logical sum signal (12a) of both is added to the timing circuit (3). 181 is the print head (181) by the signal (11a) when there is missing wire information.
6) is a head vertical drive circuit that drives the circuit in the vertical direction, 4 is a signal (11b) when there is missing wire information, f is one input, and the other input is the data (2a)' of the register circuit (2), which is the logical product of both. This is an AND gate that supplies dot data that needs to be removed and reprinted to the wire drive circuit (4).

Then, normal printing is performed for one line. Conventionally, at this point, the output (3C) from the timing circuit (3) would have caused the platen (γ) to rotate once, but in this case, the platen (A) would have been rotated by the signal (11c) from the control circuit C11). Pause. On the other hand, in the AND gate α signal, the dot data to be transmitted to the missing print wire is shifted and transmitted to the normal print wire by the signal (11b) from the control circuit α. Here, assuming that the defective wire is the fourth print wire, that is, print wire 4, the signal is transmitted to the normal print wire μs). Furthermore, in the AND gate α4), the signal (11b)
This prevents print data from being transmitted to anything other than the print wire μs).

On the other hand, the control circuit αη creates a false code (11a) for vertical movement of the print head (6) by one dot based on the contents of the missing wire number (to). In this case, when the missing wire number information is number 1, a signal is applied to the head vertical drive circuit (1B) to move the head vertically, and when it is numbers 2 to 7, it moves downward. To explain this using figure 9 t-84, if the 4th data is transmitted to the 3rd print wire) and the print head (6) is moved downward by t-1 dots, the originally required A column 4 It will be printed on the number dot. In this state, the print signal (3a
), the head (6) is driven horizontally by the horizontal movement signal (3b), thereby correcting and overprinting all the characters that were missing during the previous printing of one line. After the correction printing is completed, the overlap printing end signal (3c
) by rotating the platen (γ) t-. That is,
During normal operation, the print head (6) completes a one-way operation to print one line, but when specific wire loss information is input, it makes one round trip to print a - line and completes printing. By sniffing, a complete print of the negative part is obtained.

The above is the operation when the missing wire report is number 4,

However, only when the missing wire is the first wire (21), when the head (6) moves downward, there is no printing wire corresponding to the originally required printing surface, so the control circuit (9) A signal (11a) for moving the print head (6)'t-upward is output.

As is clear from the above explanation, according to the present invention, even if six specific printing wires are missing, the data that should be transmitted to them is transmitted to the normal printing wires, and the wire loss occurs. Since the head is moved so that a normal printing wire is located in the correct position and the head is reprinted, normal printing can be obtained even after the defective printing wire is discovered until it is repaired or replaced.
