せていずれか一方のカムに択一的に係合させるこ
とにより吸気バルブまたは排気バルブの作動モー
ドを切換える様にした内燃機関用バルブ作動モー
ド可変式動弁装置において、 上記カムシヤフトにタイミングカムを形成する
と共に、ロツカアームの軸方向端部に係止溝を形
成し、タイミングカムと係止溝との間にカムシヤ
フトの略半径方向に付勢され、タイミングカムと
係合する係合部材を配置し、タイミングカムの回
転に伴い上記係合部材は上記係止溝内に直接係入
してロツカアームの軸方向移動を制止ならしめる
ロツク位置と、上記係止溝から離脱してロツカア
ームの軸方向移動を可能ならしめるロツク解除位
置とを選択的に占め、かつ上記タイミングカムは
係合部材がそのロツク位置においてロツカアーム
の揺動に応じて往復動してロツカアームの揺動に
干渉しないカムプロフイルを有することを特徴と
するバルブ作動モード可変式動弁装置。
