Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the content of a transmitted data from being known by a third person even when a specific user on the reception-side is not at the equipment by providing a means to detect a confidential code from a reception data, a storing means, a calling means, and a controlling means. CONSTITUTION:An operator on the transmission-side transmits a sound signal requesting for that an operator on the reception-side will transmit within a certain time the code of a password number that specifies a particular user at the destination of the confidential transmission by means the push-button of an attached dual tone multi-frequency code DTMF type telephone set. On the reception-side, when a DTMF detecting circuit 7 detects the pass word, a called identification CED signal is transmitted to the transmission-side, and then the function passed by the equipment on the reception-side is informed to the opposite. The transmission-side equipment specifies a desired mode of communication to the reception-side. When the reception is ready, the READY is informed to the transmission-side by means of a CFR(reception-ready confirmation) signal. The reception-side equipment receives a picture data, however, differing from the case of usual reception, the received picture data is stored in a nonvolatile memory 10 without outputting a recording.

First, in step S1 of FIG. 4, the operator on the calling side sends a pin code specifying the specific user to whom the confidential communication is to be sent to the receiving side within a certain period of time using the button on the attached DTMF telephone. Sends out a signal sound to prompt. This signal tone is used by the CHD (Called Station Identification) to notify the transmitting operator of the receiving side's response, which will be sent first in the pre-procedure described later.
Choose a frequency that will not be mistaken for a signal. Also, instead of this signal sound, a voice message explaining the information to the transmitting operator may be sent.

As shown in FIG. 3, when the end of the image data is known by the transmission of an EOM (end of message) signal from the transmitting side, the control section on the receiving side performs a known post-procedure in step S6 of FIG. As shown in Figure 3, if the message image data is successfully received, an MCF (message confirmation) signal is sent to notify the calling party, and in response, a DCN (disconnect command) signal is sent from the calling party. In response to this, the line is switched to the 'it' phone T side and the communication is terminated.

When the input of the PIN number is completed, the process proceeds to step S9, where the PIN input in step S8 is received first and stored in the RAM 9.
It is checked whether the PIN number matches the one stored in the non-volatile memory 10, and if it does not match, the process returns to step 2 S8; if it matches, the process proceeds to step SIO, where the image data previously stored in the non-volatile memory 10 is stored. As described above, according to this embodiment, the user who is the destination of the confidential communication is called by the ringing of the pager receiver, and therefore is reliably notified that the confidential communication addressed to him/her has been received. Furthermore, by inputting his or her personal identification number, the user can view the received image addressed to him or herself without being seen by a third party. If the user keeps his or her personal identification number secret, a third party cannot output the received image data in the nonvolatile memory 10.
