Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent articles in a living room from spoiling by drain water by a method wherein the operating period of a drain pump is determined by a timer during the operation of a compressor and cooling operation as well as dehumidifying operation are stopped when a water level detecting sensor is put ON. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a water receiving pan 2, reserving drain water generated in a heat exchanger 1 by condensation, 2 drain pump 3 for discharging the drain water and a water level detecting sensor 6, detecting the overflow of the drain water from the water receiving pan 2 before the overflow of the same. The operation of the drain pump 3 is controlled by timers 8, 14 while the operation of an air-conditioning machine is stopped when the water level detecting sensor 6 detects the water level. As a result, the drain water will never overflow the water receiving pan 2 and, accordingly, ceiling, wall surfaces, articles in a closet or the like will never be contaminated and comfortable air condition may be effected.
