Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by using a back light type liquid crystal display plate which projects the video output of an image pickup means and projecting the rear surface of said liquid crystal display plate with external light. CONSTITUTION:A composite video signal outputted from a video signal processing circuit 6 is projected on the back light type liquid crystal plate 7. The back light plate 8 consists of a shield plate 8 which cuts off environmental external light and is rotatable around a shaft 8a as shown by an arrow A or B to move between a position C close to the liquid crystal plate and a position D where the plate is fallen down. A through hole is bored on a video camera housing 1 off the track path of its rotation and a diffusing plate 9 which diffuses environmental external light is provided in the through hole. When the illuminance of the periphery is large enough, a monitoring person rotates the back light plate 8 around the shaft 8a as shown by the arrow B to the position D and a back light source 11 is turned off to irradiate the light crystal plate 7 from behind through the diffusion plate 9, so that the monitoring person monitor an image through a lens 3.

FIG. 1 shows an electrical block diagram of an electronic viewfinder device according to an embodiment of the present invention, and since numerals 1 to 6 in the figure have the same configuration as the conventional example, the same reference numerals are given and the explanation thereof will be omitted. Next, the differences between the present invention and the conventional example will be explained. The composite video signal output from the video signal processing circuit 6 is displayed on a backlight type liquid crystal panel 7. A bank light board 8 using an LED or a photodiode as a light source is provided as a light source for illuminating the liquid crystal board 7, and the backlight board 8 is not shown in the figure as a shielding board 8b for blocking ambient external light. It is configured so that it can freely rotate in the direction of arrow A or B around the shaft 8a by means of a knob provided outside, and can move to position C near the liquid crystal panel and to the tilted position shown by the broken line. It has become. A through hole is provided on the video camera housing 1 outside the orbital path of the rotation, and a diffuser plate 9 for diffusing ambient external light is provided in the through hole.

Next, the present invention will be explained in detail. Now, assuming that the surrounding illuminance is low enough, the observer should move the backlight plate 8 to the axis 8a.
Rotate in direction B around , and bring it to the position.
By cutting off the backlight power source 11 and backlighting the liquid crystal panel 7 with ambient light through the diffusion plate 9,
A supervisor can monitor the video through the lens 3. Next, when the surrounding illuminance is low, the observer can move the backlight plate 8 to position C''!, illuminate the liquid crystal plate 7 with the backlight, and monitor the image.
