As disclosed on the page, the method detects the actual printing surface density at each division as appropriate in the width direction of the printing plate, and sets the ink supply amount by comparing the data with a preset standard density. Or, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 56-24634, a plate-making film is prepared, and the film is sandwiched between a light emitter and a photoreceptor made of a photoelectric converter,
A method that extracts the amount of light transmitted through the film as an analog signal using a photoreceptor, converts this into digital image area ratio data via an A/D converter, and sets the ink supply amount according to the image area ratio. It has been known.

I try to set the amount. That is, in this method, the ink supply amount cannot be set before printing starts. Therefore, there is a problem in that the above-mentioned trial printing has to be performed each time the printing surface is changed. On the other hand, in a method in which a plate-making film is sandwiched between a light emitting body and a light receiving body, and the ink supply amount is set by obtaining the print area ratio from the amount of light transmitted, the ink supply amount can be set before printing starts. Although the above-mentioned problems with the method of measuring the printed surface density are solved, the work of measuring the 9-line ratio can be done for all printed surfaces, that is, for newspaper printing, for example, for all pages of a newspaper. Furthermore, each time the layout of each page is changed, it is necessary to manually perform the above-mentioned drawing ratio measurement work for each plate-making film in a short time so as not to interfere with either the upstream or downstream processes. , and must be handled in a manner that does not damage the film. Therefore.

Dots converted to a matrix of bits
Save the image to a file. Then, the content of the file is divided into a plurality of parts in the printing width direction, and the number of bits of "1" indicating the above-mentioned image area is counted for each divided plane. Next, the line ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of bits by the total number of bits for each divided plane. Then, based on the image ratio, the ink supply amount is set for each of the divided surfaces. Therefore.

In the illustrated embodiment, 8 of the first to eighth dividing surfaces
The number of "1" bits corresponding to the image area is totaled for each divided plane, and the line ratio is calculated by dividing the number of bits by the total number of bits of each divided plane. Partly, the line ratio corresponding to each of the first to eighth dividing planes is calculated. Then, based on the line ratio.

Since it is not necessary to perform the work of setting the print area ratio and ink supply amount, which has been conventionally performed, for example, using a plate-making film, the ink supply amount setting process can be significantly shortened. This not only has a significant effect on management costs, but also for printed materials such as newspapers, which require up-to-date information down to the minute and second. This is extremely important and has great effects.
