It consists of a female housing 22 in which a plurality of female contacts 23 are arranged, and a male housing 24 in which a plurality of female contacts 23 are arranged. The male housing 24 is installed on the printed circuit board 10 to be connected, and the connecting portion 23A of each female contact 23 passes through a corresponding through hole in the printed circuit board 10 and is inserted into the printed circuit board 10 as indicated by reference numeral 11. Corresponding circuit conductors on the board 10 and dip soldering are electrically connected to each other by dip soldering or the like. on the other hand,
The female housing 22 is fitted into the male housing 24 and has a hanging structure, and the female contacts 21 disposed in the female contact array openings 22A usually have a shape as shown in the drawing. This conventional female contact 21 is usually of a crimping type formed by punching and bending a single piece of conductive sheet with spring properties. The structure of this conventional female contact 21 has a female contact portion 21Δ, a core crimping portion 21B, and a covering crimping portion 21C arranged in this order in the contact insertion direction. . Furthermore, this female contact 21 usually has a locking portion 21D for fixing it within the array opening 22A. In each female contactor 21, the peeled core wire portion 31 is crimped and connected to the core wire crimping portion 21B, and the covering portion 32 is connected to the covering crimping portion 2IC.
A connecting wire 30 is connected by crimp connection. By fitting the female housing 22 wired in this way into the male housing 24 installed on the printed circuit board 10 to create the state shown in FIG. It is inserted between the contact portions 21A of the child 21 and makes electrical contact therewith. In this way, electrical connection with the conductor can be made 100 times on the printed circuit board.

Therefore, there is a limit to shortening the overall length of the contact in the contact insertion direction. Therefore, the height of the housing that accommodates these contacts, that is, the dimension H from the top surface of the printed circuit board 10 to the end surface of the connector 20 in FIG. 1, has to be a certain height.

There is a trend to reduce the spacing between printed circuit boards, so the height of the connectors used for these should be as low as possible, and connectors that do not require a reduction in the workability of the contact parts and crimping parts of the contacts. is becoming desired. In addition, in the structure of conventional contacts, the contact part, the core wire crimping part, and the insulation crimping part are in a straight line, so if you connect a wire that is too thick to the crimping part, the wire will be inserted into the contact part. There was a risk that the tips of the side contacts would collide, and there was also a limit to the diameter of the wire that could form mounds.

By making the receiving direction of the mating female contact of the female contact part parallel to the arrangement direction of the core wire crimping part and the covering crimping part, the distance between each part can be minimized, and the mating part The overall height of the contact in the insertion direction can be reduced, and the height of the connector housing for accommodating this contact in the insertion direction of the mating contact can be kept very low. Furthermore, in the contact in the electrical connector of the present invention, the locking portion can be disposed at the tip of the contact, and the locking portion can be made to protrude to the side opposite to the female contact portion. When this contact is inserted into the contact receiving chamber of the housing from one end, the locking portion is engaged with the protrusion of the deflection locking arm of the housing at a position where the female contact portion faces the female contact receiving opening. By engaging with the tip of the part, it can be fixed within the contact housing chamber. Therefore, in general, for this type of contact,
Although it is difficult to increase the height or length of the locking part for fixing to the housing, and it is difficult to provide a locking part with great elasticity, according to the configuration of the present invention, the housing can be fixed to the housing as described above. Since it is easily possible to provide a deflection locking arm and give it a large amount of elasticity, there is no need to provide that much elasticity to the locking portion of the contact, and the size of the locking portion can be increased ( Therefore, even if a locking portion is provided at the tip of the contact, the size of the housing of the connector can be suppressed.

There is less risk of crimping, and the number of crimping defects is greatly reduced compared to conventional products.

気コネクタ。An electrical connector comprising a housing and an electrical contact disposed within the housing, the housing having a contact receiving chamber open at one end of the housing, and the other end opposite to the one end of the housing. and a male contact receiving opening communicating with the contact receiving chamber, and one side wall of the contact receiving chamber of the housing is provided with a male contact receiving opening that extends from the one end of the housing toward the other end. A deflection locking arm is provided, and a free end of the deflection locking arm is formed with a protrusion projecting into the contact housing chamber, and the electrical contact is connected to the wire crimping portion. It has a female contact part on the opposite side to the covering crimping part, and has a locking part in front of the core wire crimping part, and has a locking part for receiving a mating male contact of the female contact part. The direction is parallel to the arrangement direction of the locking part, the core wire crimping part, and the covering crimping part, and the locking part protrudes toward the side opposite to the female contact part, and the electric contact When the child is inserted into the contact receiving chamber of the housing from the one end, the locking portion engages the deflection locking arm at a position where the female contact portion faces the male contact receiving opening. An electrical connector, wherein the electrical connector is fixed within the contact housing chamber by engaging with a tip of the protrusion.
