Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a high-performance recording material for general use and ink jet recording use with has a property of speedily absorbing an ink, is excellent in dot shape and gives clear images, by providing a recording surface with an acetal cyclic ether obtained by condensation of glycerol with an aldehyde or ketone. CONSTITUTION:An acetal cyclic ether obtained by condensation of glycerol with an aldehyde or ketone may be, for example, a condensate of glycerol with formaldehyde, acetaldehyde or acetone. Where a base of a recording material is a paper base, the acetal cyclic ether is provided at the surface of the base by, for example, adding the ether during a paper-making process, applying the ether as a surface size by a size press, adding the ether to a coat layer or applying the ether before printing. The amount of the ether provided on the base such as a paper is generally preferably about 0.1-10g/m<2>. In the cases of applying the ether by a size press, adding the ether to a coat layer, applying the ether before printing or other methods, the amount is preferably about 0.01-10g/m<2>.

(Prior Art) Inkjet recording methods include various ink (recording liquid) ejection methods, such as an electrostatic suction method, a method that applies mechanical vibration or displacement to the ink using a piezoelectric element, and a method that heats the ink to foam it. Recording is performed by using a method that utilizes the pressure to generate and fly ink droplets, and attach some or all of them to a recording material such as paper.
It is attracting attention as a recording method that generates little noise and allows for high-speed printing and multicolor printing.

Next, to explain the present invention in more detail, the present inventor has made efforts to obtain a recording material that solves the drawbacks of the prior art as a general recording material using water-based ink and a recording material for inkjet recording. As a result of research, it has been found that when a specific compound is present on the surface of paper commonly used in the past, such as paper to medium-quality paper, it has excellent ink absorption and does not cause ink bleeding or feathering. It was discovered that a fine and high-resolution recorded image could be obtained by giving a dot shape.

The amount of acetal cyclic ether to be applied to the base material such as paper varies depending on the form in which it is applied.
For example, in the case of a method of adding internally during paper making, it varies depending on the thickness of the paper, but generally about 0.1-10 g/rn
