【考案の詳細な説明】 この考案は雰囲気式加熱炉のシール装置に関す
るものである。

鋼帯の熱処理炉例えば連続焼鈍炉では、熱処理
に際し、鋼帯が酸化するのを防止するため炉内に
H2−N2ガス等の還元性雰囲気ガスを満たし、炉
内を正圧に維持し、還元性雰囲気の中で熱処理し
ている。この場合第1図に示すように、連続焼鈍
炉1の鋼帯Sの出入口部1a,1bから雰囲気ガ
スが漏洩しないようにするためシール装置を設け
ている。炉出口部1aのシール装置は第2図に示
すように、鋼帯Sを挾んで両側にシリンダ2,2
により前後駆動される回転自在のシールロール
3,3を鋼帯Sと直交する同一面上に配置し、ま
た炉出口部1aの端部には上記シールロール3,
3と摺接するシール部材4,4を設けて構成され
ている。なお炉入口部1bのシール装置も出口部
1aと同様の構成となつている。そしてシリンダ
2,2によりシールロール3,3を前進させ、シ
ールロール3,3と鋼帯3とを接触させて、雰囲
気ガスの漏洩を防止するようにしている。この場
合シールロール3,3は鋼帯Sとの摩擦により鋼
帯Sの速さと同じ周速で回転されて、鋼帯Sの表
面にはスリツプマーク、摺り疵等の表面疵がつか
ないようになつている。しかしながら、シールロ
ール3,3が軸受部の摩擦等により円滑に回転し
なくなると、鋼帯Sはシールロール3,3と線接
触しているだけであるため、シールロール3,3
を回転させる力が弱いので、シールロール3,3
が停止したままで、鋼帯Sの表面に摺り疵等の表
面疵をつける問題があつた。そこで現実の操業で
は、鋼帯Sとシールロール3,3との間に数mmの
間隙を設けて表面疵の発生を防止するようにして
いる。しかし一方、鋼帯Sとシールロール3,3
との間隙から雰囲気ガスが漏洩するため、炉内を
正圧に維持するため雰囲気ガスの補給量を増加し
なければならないので、雰囲気ガスの消費量が増
え、雰囲気ガスの原単位を高くする問題があつ
た。
