Abstract

PURPOSE:To sharply reduce the occurrence of flickers, by providing a switching device which performs the picture switching of a display device and the opening/ closing switching of a shutter synchronously to each other. CONSTITUTION:A right-eye image and left-eye image respectively obtained from a right-eye camera 1 and left-eye camera 2 are inputted to a switching device 3 and projected to a CRT 4 under a condition where they are alternately switched to each other at every field at speed which is twice as fast as that of NTSC system by the switching device 3. Moreover, both windows of a shutter 5 are alternately opened and closed synchronously to the switching of the picture of the CRT 4 by the switching device 3. Since the switching of the picture of the CRT 4 and the opening and closing of the shutter 5 are synchronously performed at the speed which is twice as fast as that of conventional systems in such way, the time frequency of the bright and dark to one eye becomes 60Hz and a stereoscopic picture which is similar to those of conventional systems can be seen.
