Abstract

PURPOSE:To observe a stereoscopic video image without dividing a television screen by controlling the light transmission of the left and right eye parts of spectacles depending on the synchronizing signal of the video image to apply stereoscopic vision in reproducing a video image broadcast picked up alternately from an object at the location of both left/right eyes. CONSTITUTION:The broadcast of a picture 1 picked up from the position of the left eye and of a picture 2 picked up from the position of the right eye is received by a television 3. Then a synchronizing signal at each field of the picture 1, 2 is extracted and a stereoscopic vision is obtained by controlling the optical transmission of the left hole 5 and the right hole 6 of the spectacles 4 to see the video image of the picture 1 by the left eye and the video image of the picture 2 by the right eye. Further, the video-recorded picture is reproduced from a video disc 7 and observed on a television 8, then the optical transmission of a left hole 10 and the right hole 11 of the spectacles 9 is controlled similarly as above to attain stereoscopic video viewing.
