Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the distribution of adhesive from becoming ununiform by a method wherein adhesive is added at the tip of the outer surface of the pipe end, onto which the adhesive is also applied, and a joint, on the inner surface of which the adhesive is applied, is put onto the pipe end. CONSTITUTION:Adhesive 2 is applied onto the outer surface of the end of a crosslinked polyethylene pipe 1 and adhesive 20 is added to the surface beveled by taper at the tip of the pipe. Adhesive 4 is applied on the inner surface of a crosslinked polyethylene joint 3. The joint 3 is put onto the pipe end 10. The adhesive 20 at the tip of the pipe end is caught up in the interface between the pipe end and the joint during the putting of joint onto the pipe end. Consequently, even when the adhesive 2 on the outer surface of the pipe end is squeezed by the tip 30 of the joint, the predetermined amount of adhesive is allowed to be present fully and uniformly in the interface. Thus, the joint can strongly be bonded to the pipe end.
