Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily make it possible to take out an end of a wiry material without washing the interior of a coating apparatus, by providing a movable guide nipple having an orifice for passing the wiry material therethrough in a tapered head part for a coating die having a coating orifice. CONSTITUTION:A coating orifice 9 consisting of a tapered groove part is formed in a coating die 3 having the tip part thereof supported by the bottom of an outside wall of an apparatus. On the other hand, a guide nipple 5 is provided at a given interval on the same central axis thereon in the above-mentioned coating die 3 and an orifice 8 for passing a wiry material therethrough is formed at the tip of the tapered head of the guide nipple 5 and placed so as to face the above-mentioned coating orifice 9. A resin solution (7a) fed to a flow passage 6 of the coating die 3 is applied to the surface of the wiry material at the above-mentioned orifice 9. In the wiry material coating apparatus of the construction, the tip part of the guide nipple 5 is provided movable in the forward and backward directions of the above-mentioned orifice 9 by screwing an umbrella part (11a) of a cap 11 thereof into the coating die 3. Thereby, an end of the wiry material is readily taken out by shutting the above-mentioned orifice 9.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> However, when using a wire coating device with this structure to coat the surface of an optical fiber with resin liquid, the following problems occur when the optical fiber is broken or the brief form is replaced. Before passing the fiber through, it was necessary to clean the inside of the device to be subjected to riI in advance. The reason for this is that most of the resin solutions currently used for coating optical fibers have a viscosity of less than 30,000 cp before curing, and even after the supply of the resin solution is stopped, the resin i8 ? The fl flowed out and adhered to the fiber passage portion, creating an obstacle when drawing and pulling out the fiber.

In addition, in conventional wire coating equipment, it was essential to clean the inside of the equipment before coating a new wire, but this work is not necessary if the coating equipment is configured like the pressure die mentioned above. This was especially difficult when the parts had complex shapes.

Means for Solving the Problems> The wire coating device of the present invention for achieving the above-mentioned objects has the following features:
a coating die having a tapered groove whose top is supported by the bottom of the outer wall and which forms a coating orifice at the inner tip; and a tapered head at a regular interval on the top of the coating die; a guide nipple that is arranged toward the tip of the groove and has an orifice for passing the wire in its tapered head; and a wire that uses the gap between the inner wall surface of the tapered groove of the coating die and the outer peripheral surface of the guide nipple as a flow path for the coating resin. The coating apparatus is characterized in that the coating die or the guide nipple is movable in the central axis direction so that the top of the guide nipple moves forward and backward toward the tip of the coating orifice of the coating die.

As described above, the wire coating device of the present invention is configured such that the guide nipple or the coating die can be moved in the direction of the central axis, and the top of the guide nipple can be moved forward and backward toward the tip side of the coating orifice of the coating die. Therefore, in the event of a break in the optical fiber being coated or a preform replacement, the guide nipple or coating die can be moved along the central axis and the top of the guide nipple can be advanced into the coating orifice of the coating die. If you keep it, will it be resin? '8 The outflow of the liquid is stopped, and the desired wire can be easily removed in the next step.

<Effects of the Invention> As is clear from the above description, the wire coating device of the present invention includes a coating die whose top is supported at the bottom of the outer wall, and a tapered head at a constant interval on the top of the coating die. A guide nipple is provided facing the tapered groove of the coating die, and the top of the guide nipple is configured to protrude and retract from the tip of the coating orifice of the coating die. This is because the amount of resin solution flowing out from the coating orifice can be adjusted or stopped simply by moving the guide nipple or covering die in the direction of the central axis of the wire passing through the wire passing orifice provided in the die and the coating orifice. ,
Coating work is extremely easy.
