Since the ship according to the present invention is constructed as described above, by moving the mast, the angle of the sail can be optimized according to the direction of the wind, and the wind can be efficiently received by the sail. Therefore, wind power can be effectively used as a propulsion force, and fuel consumption can be reduced.

A ship 1 according to the present invention is provided with masts 3 on both sides of an upper deck 2, each of which is movable in the longitudinal direction, and a sail 4 is stretched between these two masts 3. It is designed to be wound around the mast 3.

On the upper deck 2, a low single-story living area 5 is provided over almost the entire surface. This residential area 5 is designed as a corridor. A wheelhouse 6 is provided at the front end of the living area 5. Furthermore, a chimney 7 is provided at the rear end of the upper deck 2, which has a streamlined shape when viewed from above and is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis.

The mast 3 is erected on the center of a movable vehicle 9 that is movable along guide rails 8 provided on both side edges of the upper deck 2 and extending in the front-rear direction. The guide rail 8 is made of a section. The movable vehicle 9 includes a hollow vehicle body 10, vertical wheels 11 which are provided at the front and rear of the vehicle body 10 and roll on the upper horizontal flange of the guide rail 8, and vertical wheels 11 which are provided at the front and rear of the vehicle body 10 and which roll on the upper horizontal flange of the guide rail 8. It consists of a pair of left and right horizontal wheels 12 that roll along a vertical portion between an upper horizontal flange and a lower horizontal flange, and is driven by a motor with a brake (not shown). A hollow sail storage case 13 having an airfoil shape when viewed from above is attached to the mast 3 so as to be rotatable around the mast 3. And this case 1
A slit is provided in the sharp edge of the sail 3, through which the sail 4 enters the case 13, and its end is wrapped around the mast 3. Furthermore, the mast 3 is configured to be rotated by a motor (not shown), and is also rotatable when the motor is stopped, so that the length of the sail 4 between the masts 3 can be adjusted. .
Therefore, the camber of the sail 4 can be changed arbitrarily.

If the wind is blowing diagonally from the rear left of the vessel 1 as shown by arrow A in Figure 1, first, the mast 3 on the left side is located forward and the mast 3 on the right side is located rearward. Move the movable vehicle 9. Then, since the sail 4 receives a tailwind, thrust is generated, and this thrust becomes an auxiliary thrust for navigation of the ship 1. At this time, if the chimney 7 is rotated so as to be parallel to the wind direction, wind pressure resistance can be reduced. The chimney 7 also plays the role of assisting the rudder.

When the wind is blowing from the front or diagonally in front of the ship 1, the mast 3 is moved and the angle of the sail 4 is changed so that lift force is generated diagonally forward with respect to the traveling direction. Further, the sail 4 is wound around the mast 3 so that the camber of the sail 4 is in an optimal state.

In addition, it goes without saying that if the wind power is strong, navigation can be carried out only by the power of the wind.

In the above embodiment, since the upper structure is of a low single-layer type, wind pressure resistance can be reduced. In addition, since the wheelhouse 6 is located at the front end, the field of view is wide, and compared to when it is located at the rear, it can be lowered, reducing wind pressure resistance. moreover,
Since the chimney is streamlined when viewed from above and is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis, the chimney can be rotated in a direction parallel to the wind direction to reduce wind pressure resistance. Furthermore, the chimney also serves as an aid to the rudder.

In the above embodiment, the sail 4 has two masts 3
However, it is not limited to this, as long as it can be wound around either one of the masts. In this case, the other mast is provided with a device that always biases the mast to rotate in the sail winding direction.
