Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of rolled products and to expand the kinds thereof by changeably and buildably providing 4-high horizontal rolls or 2-high horizontal roll and universal rolls to one unit of a rolling mill stand. CONSTITUTION:A bearing box 5 having a projection 5a is provided to a housing 3 on one side of a rolling stand and the 4-high horizontal rolls mill 13 is built into the stand by retaining fittings 3a. The bearing box 12 on one side of the 2-high horizontal roll mill 4 is made attachable and detachable to and from the housing 3 by a horizontal roll bearing holder 11. The other bearing box 10 is made attachable thereto in an unlocked state. Both horizontal roll bearing box and vertical roll bearing box 21, 22 are made drawable laterally by a carriage from the housings 2, 3 in the case of the universal mill 24.
