Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a copying machine which can copy easily only an optional shape area, by providing many liquid crystal shutters for covering a part of a body to be copied, between the body to be copied and a copying optical system. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal shutter 1 is placed between a body to be copied 2 and a copying optical system 3, and on the other hand, an area to be copied 4 containing a body to be copied 2 is converted to an image signal by an image pickup circuit 5 and sent to a displaying circuit 6, and displayed to an operator. Based on an image which is shown by a displaying circuit 6, an operator inputs a part whose copying is not desired (or a part whose copying is desired) to a mask generating circuit 8 from a touch panel 7. The mask generating circuit 8 sends a signal to a shutter driving circuit 9, and the shutter driving circuit 9 closes (or opens) the corresponding liquid crystal shutter 1 by information of the generated mask. In such a way, an image of the body to be copied 2 which has been viewed from the copying optical system 3 is masked except an optional shape area which is designated by the operator.
