Abstract

PURPOSE:To continuously produce a colored stainless steel strip with one liquid and one stage by subjecting the stainless steel strip to pretreatments such as degreasing, pickling and cleaning then passing the strip to an AC current electrolytic cell for the purpose of coloring and film hardening. CONSTITUTION:The stainless steel strip from an un-coiler 2 is passed through an alkali degreasing tank 3, a hot rinsing tank 4, a pickling tank 5 and a hot rinsing tank 6 by which the pretreatment for cleaning is executed. The strip is then subjected to an electrolytic treatment by AC current between counter pole plates 9 in the electrolytic cell 8 contg. an electrolyte contg. CrO3 and H2SO4 and is thereby colored. The stainless steel strip 1 is subjected to the color tone measurement by the electrolyte on the strip with a color discrimination sensor 11 provided at the outlet of the cell 8 and the resulted data is inputted to a computer 12 for controlling electrolysis conditions. The electrolysis conditions [current density (i) of the anode electrolysis and cathode electrolysis, electrolysis time (t), number N of repeating of electrolysis, etc.] are adjusted and the coloring treatment is controlled when the data exceeds the preset threshold of the color tones. The steel strip is thus finished to the surface having the intended color tones.

<Conventional technology and its problems> Stainless steel! The so-called INC:O method using a mixed solution (sulfuric acid + chromic acid) is known as a method for imparting various color tones to the tlI band (Japanese Patent Publication No. 52-3).
2621.52-25817.53-31817 So). This method consists of a "coloring" step and a "hardening" step of about 2F, each of which is performed using unique solution M1 composition, temperature, and processing conditions. The products include punches. Although the main type is the intermediate plate produced by the method, a method for continuously coloring stainless steel I1 is also disclosed (Japanese Patent Publication No. 60-22065, No. 1-9) This method is INC:0 Colored stainless steel sheets are produced using two liquids, a "coloring" tank and a "dural" layer, based on the law, and the color tone is controlled by "coloring" and "during" layer.

This is done using the potential difference from τ,′,■. Therefore,
This is a complicated and difficult method in which the immersion time must necessarily be controlled, and the threading speed must be constantly changed using the take-up motor. It should be noted that it is not easy to produce a product with a fixed color tone because the color tone will not change if the "&j! film" treatment is performed in the subsequent process.

In order to provide stainless steel with a variety of color tones at low cost, we need a method to produce a fixed color tone with good reproducibility, and manufacturing using an I!1! continuation line, which is based on a method to produce a fixed color tone with good reproducibility. Therefore, although the two processes of ``coloring'' and ``during'' have the problems mentioned above, it is necessary to provide a water washing process between the coloring process, the dura process, and the process in between.

<Structure of the Invention> The oxidized film produced on the surface of stainless steel by the chemical coloring method is mainly composed of Cr203, and can be obtained electrochemically by performing anodic electrolysis. In addition, hardening treatment is the opposite of coloring, in which the porous Cr203 film is sealed and strengthened by cathodic electrolysis.

The stainless steel strip 1 is uncoiled from the uncoiler 2, removed in a degreasing tank 3 (alkaline bath) to remove dirt such as oil attached to the surface, washed in hot water 4 (14), and then pickled (e.g. in a nitric acid bath).
After forming a uniform passive film on the surface in tank 5 and washing in hot water washing tank 6, it is led through conductor roll 7 to alternating current electrolytic tank 8. This tank has a return electrode plate 9, and alternating current electrolysis is performed between this and the stainless steel strip 1.
It is colored and leaves the electrolytic cell 8.

At this time, a color identification sensor 11 is installed north of the guide roll 10 at this outlet, and a part of the solution on the colored stainless steel strip 1 is blown off with compressed air, and the color tone 411 is determined in this part. The obtained data (it is best to use color difference according to JIS Z 8730 for color display) is input into the control computer 12, and if the color difference exceeds the preset limit, change the electrolytic conditions (anodic electrolysis/cathode electrolysis). Current density i, each electrolysis time t, number of electrolysis repetitions N,
It is preferable in terms of color tone control to control the coloring process by feeding back the bath temperature, etc. In this case, it is not necessarily necessary to change the sheet passing speed.

In addition to coloring both sides of the stainless steel strip 1, it is also possible to color the stainless steel strip 1 on one side by changing the arrangement or operation of the alternating current decomposition tank 8 and the inner tank 8 and 9. That is, when both sides of the stainless steel strip 1 are colored, the counter electrodes 9 on both sides of the stainless steel strip 1 are activated, and when one side of the stainless steel strip 1 is colored, the counter electrode 9 on one side of the stainless steel strip 1 is activated.
