Abstract

PURPOSE:To absorb the leaked ink from a nozzle quickly by mounting an ink absorption body on the tip of the nozzle, and guiding the leaked ink to a waste ink absorpting mechanism disposed at an arbitrary position. CONSTITUTION:The spiled ink from a nozzle 8 is absorbed by the absorption plate 9 consist of an absorption body quickly, In the case of said ink absorption plate is filled with the ink, it is absorbed in a waste ink absorption mechanism 19 through an ink guide 14 consist of the ink absorption body. The ink absorption plate 9 and the ink guide 14 are secured to an ink chamber wall directly. The greater part of the leaked ink is dried in the ink absorption plate or the ink guide, and in the case of great amount of the ink only, it is guided to the waste ink absorption mechanism. Therefor, the ink is never leaked from a recording head.

Inkjet recording technology can be roughly divided into two types. One is to continuously eject ink particles from a nozzle, and only the ink particles used for recording are deflected by electrical means to collide with the recording medium, while other unnecessary ink particles are collected by a gutter. One is a continuous ejection type, and the other is an on-demand type, in which ink particles are ejected from a nozzle only when necessary for recording. Of these two systems, the one most relevant to the present invention is an on-demand recording head, in particular a piezocaval type recording head that utilizes the deformation of a piezoelectric element.

FIG. 3 shows the recording principle of the pressure pulse type recording head. The ink is sent into the ink chamber 3 from the ink supply @1 and becomes the next ink.
This changes the volume of the piezoelectric element placed on one side of the ink chamber (by applying pressure more instantaneously, ink particles 5 are generated from the nozzle 4 and collided with the recording paper 6. If ink leaks and adheres, the flight direction of the ink particles becomes unstable, and if it dries and solidifies after recording is stopped, it may cause clogging.

This invention has an ink absorber attached to the tip of the nozzle so that even if ink leaks from the nozzle, it can be absorbed immediately, and an ink guide that guides the leaked ink to a waste ink absorption mechanism installed at an arbitrary position. This is an inkjet head that realizes a leakage ink absorbing mechanism with a simple structure.
