路を形成する排気管に前記排気流路の一部を構成
する短管を上記排気タービン過給機より上流側に
位置して設け、該短管の内部に、排気流路を横切
る一組の浄化エレメントを排気流路の方向に間隔
をおいて設けるとともに、両浄化エレメントと短
管の内周面との間に、両浄化エレメントの間を覆
つて区画室を形成するスペーサを設け、前記短管
の外部に、前記区画室と連通した加熱器を設けて
成り、かつ、前記浄化エレメントおよびスペーサ
をセラミツク等の耐火性および断熱性を有する材
料によつて形成したことを特徴とする内燃機関に
