塞体で気密に封着してなる発光管を有する高圧金
属蒸気放電灯において、上記閉塞体は突出部とこ
の突出部の一側にフランジを形成する扁平部とで
形成し、かつ上記扁平部の外表面には電極支持体
の貫通孔からフランジにかけて上記封着材を流通
させるための案内溝が設けられてなり、閉塞体に
設けた貫通孔の周面と電極支持体間、閉塞体のフ
ランジと発光管バルブ端面間および閉塞体突出部
と発光管バルブの端部内周面間はそれぞれ封着材
を介して気密に封着されていることを特徴とする
