Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a large type bead apex having high uniformity relatively easily, by a method wherein a bead core side part and a point side part are formed individually, and both parts are connected in a body and are made into the bead apex with the prescribed dimension. CONSTITUTION:The first member 10 with the section shape of belt type is made, belt type rubber with triangle section of a base part 5a being formed and attached to the outside circumferential part of the bead core. Next, after the second member end part 5b is formed by the same method, both parts are included in the tire at the first forming process. In this process, and end part 5b which is the second part member is arranged directing its connecting part J outside on a carcass ply 7 which is adhered on the outside circumference of a forming forma 11 of a drum type, and the winding up of the carcass ply is performed by arranging the above-mentioned the first member 10 so that the connecting part J' faces to the above-mentioned J. At this time, the base part 5a of the first member 10 and the end part 5 of the second member overlap, so both parts are sticked. Hereby, the base part 5a and the end part 56 are made in a body, and the bead apex 5 with desired shape and dimension can be obtained.

(Prior Art) For example, in many radial tires for motorcycles, a bead apex made of hard rubber is buried near the bead portion. The bead apex is a reinforcing material that gradually decreases in thickness from the bead core toward the sidewall, and by embedding this reinforcing material, it is possible to strengthen the lateral rigidity of the tire.

The apex 5 is formed by joining and integrating a base portion 5a, which is a portion on the bead core 3 side, and an end portion 5b, which is a portion on the tip side extending upward (to the crown side) from the base portion 5a. 5a is integrated with the bead core 3. The material of the bead apex 5 is hard rubber, and its preferred JIS hardness is in the range of 65° to 95°. As mentioned above, this bead apex 5 extends from the bead core 3 in the sidewall direction with its thickness gradually decreasing, but in order to enhance the reinforcing effect of the tire, its tip is located near the maximum width part of the sidewall portion 4. It is preferable to keep it so that it reaches .

Specifically, this bead apex 5 is manufactured, for example, as follows. First, a rubber band having a triangular cross section, which will become the base portion 5a, is molded by, for example, extrusion molding, and is attached to the outer periphery of the bead core 3.

As a result, a strip-shaped first member 10 having a cross-sectional shape as shown in FIG. 2(a) is obtained. Next, the second member, that is, the end portion 5b having the cross-sectional shape shown in FIG. 2(b) is molded in the same manner, and then both are assembled into the tire in the tire primary molding process. In this step, as shown in FIG. 3(a), the end portion 5b, which is the second member, is placed on the carcass pliers attached to the outer peripheral surface of the drum-shaped forming former 11, with the joint portion J thereof facing outward. and the first member 10 on the outside.
The carcass ply is wound up with the joint J' thereof facing J. At this time, the base part 5a of the first member 10 and the end part 5b of the second member are arranged at J and J'. They overlap, so glue them together. As a result, the base portion 5a and the end portion 5b are integrated, and a bead apex 5 having a desired shape and size is obtained.

This bead apex manufacturing method involves dividing one bead apex 5 into two parts, molding them separately, and then joining them together, so the process is slightly longer than the conventional method, but it reduces the possibility of distortion. Since a product with an easy-to-use shape is divided and molded into small sizes, there is an advantage that wrinkles do not occur and a product with high uniformity can be obtained. This effect is particularly significant when the bead apex 5 is large.

また、第1部材10として、従来の小型のビードエイペ

Furthermore, it is also possible to use a conventional small-sized bead apex as it is as the first member 10 and enlarge it by adding the second member (5b) thereto.

For example, conventional bead apex (B
