磁気記録体と相対的に浮動する磁気変換器はこれまで種
々のものが考案されているが、面内磁気記録方式ではそ

されるように、空気の流出端側に変換(ヘッド)が位置

ド浮動体1の空気流出端側にヘッド部2が形成されてい
る。記号3は磁気変換を行なうギャップ部を示し、4は
浮動面、5は流入端テーパ部である。第2図の如く動作
状態においては速度Uで走行(回転)する記録媒体6に
対し、ある距離りを保って、ヘッド浮動体が浮上し記録
再生を行なう。ヘッド浮動体1はへラドコアの1部を兼
ねている。高密度記録においては、ギャップ部の強い磁
場によって媒体に記録された磁化が減磁を受けないよう
に、ギャップ以外の部分で発生する磁場はできるだけす
みやかに減少させる必要がある。このため、発生磁場分
布の急峻なヘッドコアの薄い方(A側)がtraili
ngedgeになるように、すなおち記録媒体上の1点
を最後に通過するように、ヘッド(ギャップ)は流出端
側に形成されている。このような状態で安定して浮動さ
せるために、レール幅Wやテーパ部5を適当に選んで浮
