Conventionally, in a vertical overhead valve engine, as shown in FIG.
4 is fitted and inserted to measure the oil level in the tube, but since the airtight lid 15 is tightly fitted into the dipstick opening 12 of the dipstick tube 10, air may enter the dipstick tube 10 and the oil level will drop. In some cases, the oil dipstick becomes empty even though the lubricating oil reservoir is full.

The upper end of 0 and the crank chamber 7 are connected through a communication pipe 16 to maintain the same oil level in the crank chamber 7 and the oil dipstick tube 10 for accurate oil testing, and to support the oil dipstick tube 10. This also serves to prevent wobbling.

However, in order to make up for the lack of lubricating oil, it is generally necessary to supply lubricating oil to the engine through the replenishment port 9 of the head cover 4, but the lubricating oil is collected through a narrow oil passage hole such as a push rod insertion hole in the cylinder head. As it flows down, the lubricating oil may overflow inside the head cover, or it may take some time for the lubricating oil to flow down, resulting in a slight time lag between replenishing the lubricating oil and rising the oil level in the lubricating oil reservoir, which may cause the oil level to rise. If replenishment is stopped at the point where the lubricating oil is removed, the amount of lubricating oil remaining on the head cover tends to be excessively supplied. Moreover, as engines have recently become more compact, the oil passage holes have tended to become smaller, making it difficult to properly replenish lubricating oil.

The present invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks by opening a lubricating oil supply port in the head cover, leading an oil dipstick tube upward from the wall of the lubricating oil reservoir outside the cylinder block, and connecting the upper part of this dipstick tube with the crankshaft. By connecting the crank chamber and the upper part of the head cover chamber with a communication pipe, and by connecting the crank chamber and the upper part of the head cover chamber with an air bleed pipe, and by running this air bleed pipe around the outside of the cylinder block, cylinder head, and head cover,
Since the air bleed pipe that communicates with the crank chamber is guided to the head cover chamber, lubricating oil can be smoothly supplied from the supply port, and the oil level in both chambers can be equalized by communicating with the oil dipstick tube and the crank chamber. It allows you to apply oil accurately.

A cylindrical oil dipstick 10 is guided upward along the outer wall of the cylinder block 2 to the lower wall surface 11 of the lubricating oil reservoir 8, and a dipstick 1 is inserted through the oil dipstick opening 12 at the upper end.
4 is removably inserted into the oil test tube 10, and the oil test opening is airtightly covered with an airtight lid 15.

By branching a communication pipe 16 from the upper part of the oil dipstick pipe 10 and connecting one end of the communication pipe 16 to a conduction plate 32 attached to the lid 19 of the fuel injection pump 18, it can be attached to and detached from the cylinder block 2. Further, an air vent pipe 17 is connected from the conduction plate 32 and one end thereof is connected to the head cover 4, so that the crank chamber 7 and the upper part of the head cover chamber 6 are communicated with each other.

Both the communication pipe 16 and the air bleed pipe 17 pass through the outside of the engine body and have one end connected to the cylinder block 2 and head cover 4, respectively, but the other end of the communication pipe 16 is located just above the lubricating oil reservoir 8. It may be connected to the crankcase 30, or the other end of the air vent pipe 17 may be directly connected to the oil dipstick 10.

The effects of the present invention will be described below. Since the air in the crank chamber is guided to the upper part of the head cover chamber by the air vent pipe, the lubricating oil supplied from the supply port of the head cover passes through the narrow communication path in the cylinder block. Nevertheless, the lubricating oil flows smoothly down into the lubricating oil reservoir below and the oil level rises quickly, so the appropriate amount of oil can be replenished accurately and quickly.

In addition, since the oil dipstick tube and the crank chamber are communicated through the communication pipe, the oil level between the dipstick tube and the lubricating oil reservoir can be maintained at the same level, allowing accurate oil testing with a dip stick. There is no need to remove the airtight lid, bring the inside of the oil test tube to atmospheric pressure, and then test the oil again.

Furthermore, since the communication pipe and air bleed pipe that connect the oil dipstick tube and the engine body run on the outside of the engine, they can be easily retrofitted to the engine and can be easily applied to existing engines. It can be implemented at low cost because it requires combination with
