<Prior art> In a liquid crystal display device using a conventional liquid crystal composition, Δn is α13.
Since it is a cyclohexane-based liquid crystal, it has the disadvantage that the viewing angle becomes narrow when trying to use a wide temperature range. The viewing angle contrast characteristics using a conventional liquid crystal composition are shown in Figure 3.
Here, the viewing angle of the liquid crystal cell will be defined using FIG. Angle θ indicates a clockwise deviation from the clear viewing direction 1, and 0 indicates a deviation from the normal direction 2 of the liquid crystal cell (conditions are static drive 1 voltage 5v 1 frame frequency 'f & 52Hz)
) <Object of the Invention> The object of the present invention is to eliminate such drawbacks of conventional liquid crystal compositions, and to provide a liquid crystal composition that has good contrast in the clear vision direction and a wide viewing angle in the direction orthogonal to the clear vision direction. Another object of the present invention is to provide a wide temperature range (-SOt+ to 95°C)
〇<Structure of the Invention> The present invention provides a liquid crystal composition that satisfies the above conditions based on the above object, and has the general formula % formula % (1) R, is a straight-chain alkyl group having 2 to 7 carbon atoms R' 2-7 R1 2-7 R' 2-7 R8 2-7 R/ z 2-71 R 2-8 R,I'l~ 8 R: #2-8 R 2-8 R 2-8 R'# 2-8 R 2-8 Ris 2-8 The compounds of each group (1) to (8) represented by The above object is achieved by a liquid crystal composition characterized by containing at least one component.

Compound (1) is a cyclohexylcyclohexylethane-based liquid crystal compound, has low viscosity, and has the effect of lowering the viscosity of the entire liquid crystal composition without lowering the clearing point. Δn is small and Δ3 as a liquid crystal composition is lower than Δn. Compound (21 is a cyclohexyl phenylethane-based liquid crystal compound with low viscosity. Compound (3) is a Schiffung hexyl biphenylethane-based liquid crystal compound with a high clearing point and low viscosity. Compound (

Compound (8> is a 0BOH (abbreviation for cyclohexane bi7-di-cyclohexane) liquid crystal compound.
Compound (7) has a very high clearing point and is effective for increasing the clearing point of liquid crystal compositions and widening the liquid crystal temperature range.
If too much (8) is included in the liquid crystal composition, it tends to precipitate at low temperatures, so the weight percent content was adjusted within the above weight percent. Tropi.

Table 2 shows examples of the liquid crystal composition of the present invention, and FIG. 2 shows viewing angle contrast characteristics of a liquid crystal display device using the liquid crystal composition of the present invention. The liquid crystal compositions shown in Examples 1 to 3 each contain the present compounds (1) to (8), respectively. As shown in Table 2 and Figure 2 (,) to (6), the liquid crystal compositions of Examples 1 to 5 have a high clearing point and a wide liquid crystal i° range at high temperatures.Examples 1 to 5 All of the liquid crystal compositions have a clearing point of 95°C or higher. Also, there is no abnormality in the liquid crystal composition even at low temperatures, and the liquid crystal does not precipitate or freeze even if left at 50°C for two weeks. The liquid crystal temperature range is wide, the viewing angle is wide in the direction orthogonal to the clear viewing direction, and the contrast ratio is high. Examples 1-3
There are some differences. In Example 1, the driving temperature is -sθ
℃~105℃, and low temperature reliability is also high. Also, Figure 2 (a
), the viewing angle contrast in the direction orthogonal to the clear viewing direction is good, and the viewing angle showing good contrast is wide. ◎Example 2 is a cyclohexylcyclohexylethane compound (see Figure 2 ( As shown in b), the visual angle contrast in the same viewing field is lower than in Example 1.The liquid crystal temperature range is -30℃~
A wide and low temperature of 106℃! Reliability is also good at over 20 days.

In Example 3, since the content of the 0BOH liquid crystal compound (8) was reduced, the liquid crystal temperature range was 130°C to 97°C. As for the viewing angle/viewing angle stability, the results are as follows: 2.
