The object of the present invention is to realize a lightweight and highly rigid speaker cabinet. Conventional speaker cabinets often use natural wood, chipboard, or die-cast aluminum. However, natural wood and aluminum die-casting are expensive and heavy, making them unsuitable for portable speaker cabinets and the like. Also, those using chipboard are relatively cheap and lightweight, but their specific gravity is around 0.8, so they are not sufficiently rigid, and in order to obtain sufficient rigidity for a speaker cabinet, the thickness of the board must be increased. Since it has to be made larger, there is a problem in that the entire cabinet becomes larger and weighs considerably more. The present invention provides a speaker cabinet that solves these conventional problems. FIG. 1 shows the external appearance of a speaker cabinet and a speaker unit 2 attached to the front thereof. The speaker cabinet 1 is connected to the second speaker cabinet 1.
As shown in FIG. It is composed of a composite material 6 sandwiched between the surface materials 3 and 3 at right angles. With this configuration, the fiber direction 5 of the balsa wood 4 is perpendicular to the surface material 3, so the composite material 6 has extremely high rigidity. Moreover, since both the surface material 3 and the balsa material 4 are sufficiently lighter than die cast or natural wood, the overall weight of the speaker cabinet can be significantly reduced. Table 1 shows those using conventional chipboard,
This is a comparison of the characteristics of materials using balsa wood and FRP composite materials.

[Table] As shown in Table 1, the composite material of balsa wood and FRP has almost the same rigidity as chipboard, but the bulk density is half that. Therefore, by using such a composite material, it is possible to construct a speaker cabinet that is more rigid and lighter than chipboard. The balsa material is made by cutting balsa into pieces of 1 cm thick and 5 cm each in length and width, and then laying them on one side of a piece of cloth and pasting them (product name ``Cantacore'' from Nitta Veneer Co., Ltd.). (commercially available) provides excellent workability. The composite material 6 may also be used as part of a cabinet. As described above, the present invention can be applied to plastic or
The speaker cabinet is constructed using a composite material in which balsa wood is sandwiched between FRP surface materials so that the fiber direction is perpendicular to the surface material, making it lightweight and highly rigid. A speaker cabinet can be realized.
