Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform not only the simplification of a waste ink port and a waste ink tube but also the equal distribution of waste ink to a cartridge, by guiding waste ink being a mixture of multiple color inks to a waste-ink branching apparatus having a mesh material or a porous material and further guiding the same to the waste ink tank provided to color cartridge from said waste-ink branching apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Waste ink being a mixture of multiple color inks is guided to a waste- ink branching apparatus 40 having a mesh material or a porous material and further guided to the waste-ink tank provided to each color cartridge from said branching apparatus 40. The waste-ink branching apparatus 40 is provided with one waste-ink port and an ink-receiving plate 41 provided with a large number of holes to the inlet of the waste ink flowed in through one communication tube and the mesh or porous material 42 and branched ports 431, 432, 433, 434 to cartridges are provided under said ink-receiving plate 41. By this constitution, the waste ink is infiltrated in the mesh or porous material to be spread to the entire surface thereof an uniformly distributed throughout the mesh or porous material and the ink saturated in each part falls to each branched port and, as a result, the distribution of the waste ink is performed.

In general, in inkjet recording devices, during operation,
Ink jets are continuously ejected, and ink particles that do not contribute to printing are captured and collected in the gutter and reused. Particularly, water in the collected ink evaporates during flight, increasing the viscosity of the ink as a whole. When the viscosity of the ink increases in this way, the conditions for forming ink droplets deteriorate, and eventually printing becomes impossible. In order to prevent this change in ink viscosity, several viscosity control methods have been proposed. For example, there is a method that suppresses ink viscosity below a certain value by removing a predetermined amount of ink from the ink circulation system during ink circulation (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 59-81
1777) is the simplest method, which predicts the increase in ink viscosity, discards the ink, and supplies new ink. Many products eliminate this ink and control viscosity.

Rather than providing a waste liquid tank in the device, a waste liquid cartridge is combined with the supply ink cartridge (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 59-207254), so that when the ink cartridge is replaced, the waste liquid cartridge can also be changed at the same time. , which removes the hassle of disposing of waste liquid from the user. By the way, when controlling the viscosity of waste liquid as described above in a color inkjet printer, it is sufficient to provide a waste liquid port for each color of ink liquid and connect the waste liquid from the waste liquid port to the ink cartridge of each color. Several of them had to be provided, which caused problems in terms of space, and there were also problems such as the need to provide a conduit to each waste liquid cartridge.

Guided to 3G and 3B. Each ink cartridge has a structure in which a supply ink cartridge and a waste liquid recovery cartridge are combined. 4 is a platen roller to which the recording paper is attached. In FIG. 4, the waste liquid port 10 and the conduction pipe 11 are combined into one, the mixed color waste liquid is branched by the branching means 12, and each branch pipe 131 * 132 * 133 + 1

In addition, in the case of the branching means having the shape as shown in FIG. 6, the flow rate from the branch pipe 311 closest to the waste liquid inlet of the branching means 30 is the maximum, and the flow rate decreases as the distance from the waste liquid inlet increases. Put it away.

Even if the number of conductive pipes is reduced to one and a branch pipe is provided in this way, the waste liquid may not be equally divided depending on the mounting position, shape, etc. of the branch port. If the waste liquid is not equally divided, the waste liquid collected in each cartridge will be uneven, resulting in cartridges overflowing with waste liquid.

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an embodiment of a waste liquid branching device according to the present invention. In the figure, 40 is a waste liquid branching device, and 1 (not shown)
An ink receiving plate 41 is provided with a large number of holes for inlet of waste liquid ink flowing through two waste liquid ports and one conductive pipe, and a mesh material or porous material 42 and each cartridge are provided on the underside of the ink receiving plate 41. Branch entrance to 431 p 432 + 4
33H434 is provided. With this configuration, waste ink is absorbed into the mesh or porous material 42 and spreads over its entire surface. Therefore, the waste liquid is evenly distributed in the mesh or porous material, and the ink saturated in each part falls into each branch port, resulting in equal distribution of the waste liquid. Note that the ink receiving plate 41 is not necessarily required, but if it is omitted, the fineness and thickness of the mesh should be adjusted so that when the waste liquid hits the mesh or porous material, it does not directly pass through. etc. need to be considered. Further, for the mesh or porous material, it is desirable to use a material that is not eroded by ink, such as stainless steel, in view of durability.

FIG. 2 is a diagram showing another embodiment of the waste liquid branching device according to the present invention. In the figure, 5o is a waste liquid branching device, which has a waste liquid ink receiver 51, in which ink is temporarily stored. An extended mesh or porous material 53 is immersed in the ink 52 to absorb the ink.
