Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the delay in connection and to improve the line utilizing efficiency by forecasting the traffic quantity of the whole adaptive DAMA system based on the traffic intensity informed from each slave station so as to decide the assigned line number to each slave station and designating it. CONSTITUTION:Slave stations A, B,...N and a master station 5 are connected by a control line 7 through an artificial satellite 4. When a call exists, each slave station uses an idle line among lines assigned to the own station in communication lines 6 and informs the traffic intensity of the own station to the master station 5 through the control line 7. The entire traffic quantity is forecast based on the traffic intensity from each slave station, the master station 5 decides the assigned line number of each slave station so as to maximize the utilizing efficiency of lines and assignes again the lines. Since the line assignment control at each call in the instantaneous DAMA system and the reservation procedure in the reservation DAMA system are not required, the satellite communication system without delay in the connection and high line utilizing efficiency is attained.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a demand assignment multiple access (DAMA) system, and particularly relates to a line allocation system in a satellite communication system. There are two types of DAMA systems: an immediate DAMA system that allocates a line when a request for line use occurs, and a reserved DAMA system that makes a reservation for line use in advance and allocates the line at the reserved time.

[Problems to be solved by the invention] In the instant DAMA method of the conventional DAMA method described above, line allocation control is required between the master station and the slave station every time a line use request occurs, resulting in connection delay. The reservation DAMA method also has the disadvantage that DAMA is not available immediately when the line is used.
Although there is no connection delay, which is a disadvantage of this method, it does have the disadvantage of requiring a procedure to reserve line allocation in advance.

:Means for Solving the Problems] The configuration of the present invention includes a master station that manages all control lines that send and receive various notifications and information, and a master station that manages all control lines that send and receive various notifications and information, and a master station that sends and receives various notifications and information at any time unrelated to the occurrence of a call. In an adaptive DAMA method for a communication system including a plurality of slave stations that each use a plurality of lines specified by a call in accordance with the occurrence of a call, the master station transmits information of each slave station notified from each slave station. The system is characterized in that the total traffic volume is predicted based on the call volume, the number of lines to be allocated to each of these branch stations is determined, and each line to each of these slave stations is designated.

The master station 5 notifies each of the slave stations 1 to 3 through the control line 7 of the line allocation arbitrarily determined in advance at the time of starting operation of the system as an initial value. In addition, each slave station 1 to 3 selects and uses an empty line from among the lines assigned to it when a call is made, and each slave station 1 to 3 uses It notifies the master station 5' of its own call volume through the control line 7 at short intervals.

This master station 5 receives information on the traffic volume from each slave station 1 to 3 and prepares the system traffic for the next cycle.
The number of lines to be allocated to each slave station 1 to 3 is determined so that the heavy use efficiency is maximized, and the number is notified to each slave station 1 to 3 through the control line 7. On the other hand, each slave station 1 to 3 repeats the above process using the newly allocated line.

As explained above, the present invention predicts the traffic of the entire system using the traffic volume of each slave station as information and automatically performs line allocation, thereby controlling line allocation for each call in the instant DAMA method and reservation DAMA. This eliminates the need for reservation procedures in the system, making it possible to provide a satellite communication system with no connection delays and high line usage efficiency.
