Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an output paper for a printer to be utilized in the state of being bound at the left end and opened sideways, by a method wherein an elongate paper is prepared in the state of being folded in an appropriate size, lateral-writing printing is conducted on the paper in the longitudinal direction of the paper, and the paper is bound on the side of the valley folds to form a file. CONSTITUTION:The elongate paper is prepared in the state of being folded along the line of perforations. For all lines, printing is conducted in a one- character amount in the column direction, and after printing is completed, the paper is fed by a one-character amount in the column direction. Printing and paper feeding are repeated to complete printing on one page. Then, the paper is bound on the valley fold side to form a file. A printer is provided with a reception buffer, which has storage capacity for at least one page, and stores data in the order in which the data are received. The contents of the buffer are stored into a printing work area while converting the direction of characters constituting the composition of the contents into a vertical direction in response to a printing direction converting command. Printing is conducted according to the contents of the work area.

(Prior art) Printer output paper has perforations 2 and paper feed holes 3 on both ends of a long paper 10, as shown in Figure 5, and is folded to an appropriate size. There is a perforation 4 for use, and you can fold it at the perforation 4 and make a large quantity of 11! We have prepared several stacks. In the case of a serial printer, printing is performed line by line in the row direction, and when the printing of the - line is completed, the operation of feeding the paper by one line in the column direction is repeated to print one page. In the case of a line printer, one line of text is printed once, t times, and when printing of - lines is finished, the operation of feeding the paper one line in the column direction is repeated.

The output paper of this printer is located at the top (as shown in Figure 6).
It is used by closing the page (at the bottom of the paper fold) and opening it up and down as shown in Figure 7, but since the pages are opened up and down, it is inconvenient and difficult to see.

Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 8, cut out all the pages at the folding perforation 4, align the pages, and bind on the left. This filing method is easy to use because it binds on the left and opens horizontally, but it is troublesome to cut out at perforations and align the pages.

(Example) As shown in Figure 1, prepare a long sheet of paper by folding it along the perforations. Printing is performed by one character in the column direction for all rows, and after printing, the paper is fed by one character in the column direction. This printing and paper feeding are repeated to complete printing for one page. Then, close the folded side of the paper and file it.

The printer can be a computer such as a computer, office computer, etc.
It includes a receiving buffer 11 that receives external memory files such as floppy disks and output from a word processor. This reception buffer has a memory capacity of at least one page or more, and sequentially stores data in accordance with the order of reception as shown in FIG. Although the memory contents are shown in characters in Figure 3, they are actually stored in code. In response to a printing direction conversion command, the contents of the receiving buffer 11 are rearranged so as to have the normal meaning when the print work area 12 is left-bound and horizontally opened, as shown in FIG. That is, the content of the reception buffer is stored in the print work area 12 while converting the direction of the characters forming the sentence into the vertical direction. Although FIG. 4 also shows the memory contents in characters, they are actually stored in code. The printing device performs printing according to the contents of this printing work area 12.
