PURPOSE:To cool or heat efficiently intermediate rolls and to prevent the generation of a heat crown by forming a fluid supply hole to the inside of each of the intermediate rolls, inserting a fluid introducing pipe into the hole and controlling the temp. of the rolls. CONSTITUTION:The liquid supply hole 9 provided with an aperture 8 at one shaft end side is formed to the axial central part of each of the intermediate rolls 2, 3 of a 1-stand multi-passes rolling mill. The fluid introducing pipe 10 opened at the top end is inserted into the hole 9. The cooling fluid is supplied through the pipe 10 and the aperture at the top end thereof into the deepest part of the holes 9 formed into the rolls 2, 3. The cooling fluid passes further the space between the hole 9 and the pipe 10 and cools the rolls 2, 3 from the inside and is then discharged. The rolls 2, 3 are heated up by supplying the high-temp. fluid thereto in the starting stage of rolling, by which the effect of roll bending is improved.

ル2.3が冷えているためにロールベンディング効果が
悪く、板の形状が悪化する問題を有していた。
