Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain proper read and transmission of an original by detecting an error of setting of a sending original or the like to raise an alarm. CONSTITUTION:After original read sending is started, a central control section 5 reads sequentially an analog picture element signal stored in a picture memory 6, counts sequentially the consecutive number of white picture element signal or black picture element signal to discriminate whether or not the consecutive number of white or black picture element signals exceeds a predetermined value. When not exceeding, the sending is performed. On the other hand, when exceeding, it is discriminated that the original is in faulty state such as turning upside down, the warning to the operator is displayed on a display section 3 and an alarm tone is generated from an alarm section 4.

[Prior Art] Generally, in this type of device, for example, a facsimile device, the method for setting a transmission document differs depending on the model. That is, depending on the model, there are at least two types of originals: one in which the original is set with the side on which characters and the like are written facing up, and the other in which the original is set with the side on which the characters, etc. are written, facing down. Therefore, in conventional facsimile machines of this type, when reading and transmitting a document, there are many cases in which the document to be sent is accidentally set upside down, leaving the receiving recording side blank. Moreover, if automatic reception is performed on the receiving side and the operator is absent, the operator on the transmitting side will not notice the error, resulting in the required document transmission not being performed.

[Objective] The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned conventional drawbacks, prevent transmission errors such as setting a document upside down, and prevent waste of line usage charges due to such transmission errors. The purpose of this invention is to provide a communication device.

First, the configuration of a facsimile machine that is an embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1. In the configuration shown in FIG. 3 is a display section that displays various information to notify the operator; 4 is an alarm section that issues a warning report to call the operator's attention; 5
is a central control unit that controls the operation of each part of the facsimile machine,
6 is an image memory unit that stores analog pixel signals obtained by reading a document; 7 is an encoder unit that encodes the analog pixel signals into digital pixel signals for transmission; and 8 sends the encoded digital pixel signals to a communication line. A modem section 9 modulates the carrier wave as desired, and a line control section 9 controls connection, release, etc. of the communication line. Note that in the figure, thick arrows indicate the flow of pixel signals, and thin arrows indicate the flow of control signals. An example of the process of reading and transmitting a document in the facsimile apparatus of the present invention having the above-described configuration is shown in the flowchart of FIG. 2. In the flowchart shown in FIG. It is repeatedly determined whether or not there is an instruction to read and send the original from the operation unit 2 with the original set in the copy unit 1. If the instruction is received, the central control unit 5 sends the original to the league unit 1 in step S2. A reading operation is performed, and the analog pixel signals of the read document are sequentially stored in the image memory section 8. Next, in step S3, the central control unit 5 sequentially reads out the analog pixel signals stored in the image memory B, and calculates the number of consecutive white pixel signals corresponding to the white area of the original or black pixel signals corresponding to characters, etc. Then, in step S4, the number of consecutive white pixel signals is set to a predetermined threshold T.
, for example, whether the number of consecutive black pixel signals does not exceed a similar threshold value, e.g., T' = 10, and if No, the set original is normal. If it is determined that On the other hand, if Yes is selected in step S4,
If it is determined that the number of consecutive white pixel signals exceeds the threshold value T and the number of consecutive black pixel signals does not exceed the threshold value ', it is determined that the original is in an abnormal state such as being turned over, and the process proceeds to step S.
Moving to θ2, a warning to the operator is displayed on the display section 3, and a warning sound is generated on the alarm section 4. Then, an instruction to check the document is displayed on the display section 3, and a selection is made as to whether to continue transmitting or to cancel. ask the operator. As a result, when the operator inputs any of them from the operation unit 2, the operator confirms that the abnormal condition has been resolved according to the instruction, and moves to step S5 to perform the transmission operation, or directly takes action to cancel the transmission.

In the above-mentioned embodiment, an image memory is required for the configuration, but it is also possible to omit this and have the central control section sequentially count the number of consecutive pixel signals while reading the original in the league section. The same effects can be obtained. However, in this case, since there is no means to store sequential pixel signals, by the time the operator is alerted to the abnormal condition, part of the abnormal document has already been transmitted. This results in waste. Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the suitability of the document is determined based on the number of consecutive 1-pixel signals, but it is also possible to determine the suitability of the document by counting the number of consecutive lines that include black pixel signals. can.

[Effect] As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of a malfunction in an image communication device in which the back side of a blank page of a document is transmitted, and also to prevent the occurrence of a malfunction in which the image communication device transmits the back side of a blank page of a document, and also to prevent the occurrence of a malfunction in which the image communication device transmits a wasteful image signal to a communication line. can prevent the occurrence of
This has the effect of making it possible to save on communication line usage charges.
