Problems to be solved by conventional techniques and ideas: The monolithic catalytic converter is made of ceramics and has extremely brittle properties; it must be held elastically within the case, and conventionally it has been made of stainless steel thin wire. A cushion is used in which a metal mesh made of thin heat-resistant metal wires is corrugated. However, corrugation requires a large amount of metal mesh, resulting in high cost. Furthermore, Japanese Patent Publication No. 19454/1983 discloses a cushion in which a metal knitted material or ceramic fiber material is filled into a hollow ring-shaped molded member with an oval cross section made of metal foil made of a heat-resistant material. However, forming the metal foil into a hollow ring shape requires a complicated process, which also has the drawback of increasing costs.

Function The cushion of the present invention has the above-mentioned structure and can be manufactured extremely easily by simply inserting a metal piece into the bag and closing the opening.Furthermore, since it has a flexible bag shape, it can be easily manufactured by monolith catalystists. It can be incorporated into the catalytic converter by wrapping it around it or fixing it to the inner surface of the case by welding, etc., and the elasticity of the metal piece and the bag acts to safely hold the monolithic catalytic converter inside the case. .

The first to third manufacturing steps of the cushion 1 of this example are as follows.
To explain based on the figure, first, one end of a material 11 made by knitting a stainless steel thin wire into a cylindrical shape and cutting it to a certain length is folded back and joined by spot welding. As shown in FIG. A closed bag 12 is formed, and a resilient metal piece 15 such as a cut end of a stainless steel coil spring or thin plate chips is filled from the opening at the other end of the bag 12. As shown in FIG. 3, the other end 14 of the bag body 12 is closed in the same manner as the one end 13, and a metal piece 15
A cushion 1 is obtained in which the cushion 1 is encapsulated.

Effects This invention applies corrugated processing to the metal mesh,
Alternatively, it can be manufactured at a significantly lower cost than conventional cushions made of metal foil molded into a hollow ring shape, and can be easily incorporated into a catalytic converter, reducing the number of man-hours needed to assemble the catalytic converter. .
