Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a device compact and to improve operability by providing a timing pulse generating means for generating the main scanning timing pulse of an image pickup element and a subscanning guide means for guiding the opening and closing of an opening section and the subscanning. CONSTITUTION:In case of performing a reading operation, initially, a subscanning guide means 15 is pulled out to form a position opening an opening section 17a. An original is pressed by a magnet and adsorbed by the fixed substance of a magnetic material to fix the end section of the means 15. Then, the original and the position, and inclination are adjusted to set a manual subscanning type reader with respect to the original and manually subscan in a direction as shown by an arrow D. An optical detecting means 20 comprising a photosensor 20a, and a light emitting diode 20b detects a transparent and translucent section 15a and transmits a signal to the timing pulse generating circuit of a circuit P plate 16. By this signal, a timing pulse is fed to a driving circuit and an image pickup element 11 is read and driven and in accordance with a subscanning feed, the original is successively read and scanned. Thereby, the reader can be made compact and the operability can be improved.

Conventional technology A manual sub-scanning type reader has a reading means housed in a housing, and the housing is entirely manually moved in the sub-scanning direction for reading. A special opening is required. In addition, when performing sub-scanning manually, it is difficult to make it go straight, and if done manually, it meanders and distorts the read information, so generally a sub-scanning guide member is provided to make it go straight. Furthermore, since sub-scanning is performed manually, it is difficult to perform sub-scanning at a constant speed, and it is necessary to perform main scanning in synchronization with a fixed amount of sub-scanning feed. Main scanning is started accordingly.

Since there is an opening for reading on the bottom, in order to protect the inside from the opening when not in use or to prevent dust from entering, conventionally the housing 2 is attached to a flexible thin plate member 1 as shown in Fig. 4. A window 11L'ii slightly wider than the opening 21L is provided, and the opening 21L is opened and closed by moving this window 1a. One end of the thin plate member 1 is fixed to a rotating shaft 3a of a binion 3, and the thin plate member 1 is moved by rotation of the binion. The pinion 3 is engaged with the rack 4 and is rotated forward and backward by movement of the rack 4 in the direction of arrow B. When not in use, the rack moves in direction B, and the window 1a moves from the opening 24 to close the opening. In use, as shown in FIG. 4, when the opening surface comes into contact with the document 6, the rack 4 moves in the direction of the arrow and drives the pinion, positioning the window 1a of the thin plate member 1 at the opening 2a and opening 2.
It was configured to open 1L'i (for example, JP-A-5
6-164476). In addition, as shown in FIG. 5, a wide belt-shaped thin plate member 6 is used to prevent meandering during sub-scanning.
was stored in the casing 2, and the casing 2 was read while being pulled out, or read and scanned when the casing was pulled out and returned.
6-40976). Further, as shown in FIG. 6, opaque marks are provided at equal intervals on the outer circumference of the transparent disk 7, and an optical detection means 8 (for example, a combination of a light emitting diode and a photosensor) is provided so that the document surface With the sub-scanning feed of the disc 7, the optical detecting means 8 sequentially detects the marks by rotating the disc 7 completely through the roller 9 and generating a signal to detect the mark, and based on this signal, the main scanning is performed as the mark is moved by a predetermined amount. (For example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 56-'33772). As mentioned above, conventional manual sub-scanning type reading devices house each necessary function as a separate and independent structure.

Operation With the above-described configuration, the sub-scanning guide means,
By configuring the timing pulse generating means and the opening/closing of the aperture in a relationship with each other, the space for these functions can be reduced, so that the entire manual sub-scanning type reader can be downsized. Also, the miniaturization allows for improved manual sub-scanning operability.
