Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide possibility of smooth reverse feeding of an original text sheet without risk of jamming even after the sheet is exhausted from the separator part by rotating either of a transport member and a separating member in the direction of feeding the sheet reversely when the sheet is to be fed reversely, and by equipping the other member with a means not to transmit the torque. CONSTITUTION:A motor 13 is operated in the regular direction to send original text sheets to a separator part A. At this time, a one-way clutch 15 is put in locked condition to rotate both a transport belt 4d and a separator belt 5d clockwise, and the original text sheets 2 are transported upon being separated one from another while situated between the two belts 4d, 5d. When an original text sheet 2 which has passed the separator part A is to be fed reversely, the same motor 13 is operated in the reverse direction to put the one-way clutch 15 in free condition, so that no drive force is transmitted to the separating shaft 5a. Therefore, the separator belt 5d stops when the sheet 2 is fed reversely with running of the transport belt 4d, wherein the reverse feeding action will not encounter any obstacle. Accordingly there is no risk of jamming to ensure smooth reverse feeding.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] <Industrial Application Field> The present invention relates to an image reading device used in a facsimile machine, a copying machine, etc., which is capable of retracting a document being read by a predetermined amount and reading a portion of the document overlappingly. .

<Prior art> Even in conventional facsimile machines, a part of the document being read is repeatedly read, for example, in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 57-1.
There is a technique disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 12175. This is when multiple sheets of originals placed on the document table are separated and conveyed one by one, and the originals at the dividing point are sent backwards for a certain length, and those parts are read repeatedly to correct the missing parts in the recording. It is something to be eliminated.

<Problems that the invention attempts to solve> However, the conventional configuration for separating and conveying documents is shown in Figure 5 (A).
As shown in the figure, a document is inserted between the conveyor belt 4d rotating clockwise and the separation belt 5d, and the separation belt 5d which is about to return the document 2 cooperates with the conveyor belt 4d which sends out the uppermost document 2. The belt 4d separates and conveys the material by its action.

Therefore, there is no problem when conveying the document 2 downstream (to the left side of the drawing), but if the motor 13 is rotated in the reverse direction in order to convey the document 2 backward, the conveyor bell (4d) will move the document 2 as shown in FIG. 5(B). Although it rotates in the direction of reverse feeding, the separation bell 1
-5d rotates in the direction that sends out the original 2 downstream. Therefore, if the original 2 is ejected from between the transport belt 4d and the separation belt 5d, the original 2 will be ejected from between the transport belt 4d and the separation belt 5d.
It is difficult to re-enter between the separation belt 5d and the separation belt 5d.
There was a problem of jamming due to the rotation of d.

<Means for Solving the Problems> Means according to the present invention for solving the above problems is such that in an image reading device that reads the contents of a document conveyed from upstream to downstream, the document is conveyed from upstream to downstream. A document is conveyed by a conveying member that rotates in the direction of moving the document, and a separating member that rotates in the direction of returning the document from downstream to upstream. It is characterized in that it rotates in the reverse feeding direction and is provided with means for not transmitting rotational driving force to the other member.

According to the above means, during reading, the original is separated and transported by the rotation of the transporting member and the separating member, and during reverse transport, either the transporting member or the separating member rotates in a direction to reversely transport the original. Since the other member does not rotate, even if a document is ejected from both members, it will reenter between the two members without jamming.

If the image information exceeds the capacity of the storage section, the drive of the motor 13 is stopped, and the motor 13 is configured to reversely rotate by a predetermined amount, and the stored image information is transferred to the recording section. The configuration is such that reading starts again after the reading has finished.

As shown in FIG. 2, the separating section A has a rotatable conveying shaft 4a and a separating shaft 5a arranged vertically and parallel to each other, and a driving pulley 4b is fixed to the conveying shaft 4a, and a driven pulley 4c is fixed to the conveying shaft 4a. A conveyance bell 1-4d is stretched between the two, thereby forming a conveyance member 4. Further, a driving pulley 5b is similarly fixed to the separation shaft 5a, and a separation belt 5d is stretched between the drive pulley 5b and the driven pulley 50, thereby forming the separation member 5.

Further, when the input to the storage unit exceeds the storage capacity, the motor 13 is stopped by a predetermined signal and rotates backward by a predetermined amount. At this time, the one-way clutch 15 attached to the separation pulley 5e is in a free state, so no driving force is transmitted to the separation shaft 5a. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4(B), when the document 2 is reversely transported by the rotation of the transport bell l-4d, the separating belt 5d stops and does not interfere with the reverse transporting action.

In the above-described embodiment, the one-way clutch 15 is used to cut off the transmission of the driving force of the motor 13, but the same effect can be obtained by using an electromagnetic clutch, for example. When this electromagnetic clutch is used, the motor can always be rotated forward if the driving force is not transmitted to the conveyance shaft 4a when the document is reversely conveyed.
