Generally, continuous extrusion processing of hollow metal products is carried out by attaching an extrusion tool consisting of a die that defines the external shape and a mandrel that defines the internal shape to a continuous extruder such as the rotating wheel type continuous extruder shown in Fig. 5. Let's do it. By the way, when continuously extruding hollow metal products, the extrusion tool is exposed to a high temperature and high pressure atmosphere for a long time, so it is usually made of a material with excellent hot strength, such as hot work tool steel such as SKD61. The hardness decreases quickly, and as a result, wear progresses in a relatively short period of operation, causing deviations in product dimensional tolerances and roughness on the inner and outer surfaces of the product, before it becomes unusable. In other words, the life of the extrusion tool is relatively short.

Therefore, among the dies and mandrels that make up the extrusion tool, we used a die made of cemented carbide, which has better wear resistance than hot work tool steel, and was shrink-fitted into a steel case. However, the current state of the art is that the mandrel support and mandrel body are still manufactured as a single unit from hot work tool steel.

In recent years, as a measure to improve the hot wear resistance of mandrels, attempts have been made to use mandrels made of cemented carbide. However, in the case of a one-piece mandrel made of cemented carbide, under substantially the same dimensional conditions as a one-piece mandrel made of hot work tool steel, there is a drawback that the mandrel will break at the base of the mandrel body under high pressure during extrusion.

This invention was made to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks. The mandrel body and the mandrel support are manufactured separately, and the mandrel structure is a combination of the two.If the mandrel body is made of cemented carbide, The present invention aims to provide a mandrel for extruding hollow products that can greatly improve tool life and extrude hollow products with high productivity by being used in common with manufacturing dies.

Below, the example will be explained with reference to the drawings.
In the figure, 1 is a mandrel body whose head 2 is formed into a tapered surface. Reference numeral 3 designates a mandrel support made of hot work tool steel, which has a tapered hole 4 into which the head 2 of the mandrel body 1 is fitted. Reference numeral 5 denotes a cover member located on the upstream side of the mandrel support 3 in the material flow direction and installed from above the peripheral wall of the mandrel support. It is made of hot work tool steel and has a knock pin interposed in the contact surface with the mandrel support 3. 6 prevents displacement of the flow dividing holes 7 and 8. 9 is a die made of cemented carbide which is shrink-fitted to a steel case 10, and 11 is a welding chamber which is composed of a mandrel body 1, a mandrel support 3, and a die 9. 12 indicates a tool holder.

Since the present invention is configured in this way, the metal material in a plastic state led out from the extrusion chamber of the continuous extruder (not shown) passes through the passage 13 and reaches the cover member 5, and the metal material is transferred to the cover member 5 and the mandrel. After dividing the flow through the flow dividing holes 7 and 8 formed in a series in the support 3, and joining and welding in the welding chamber 11,
A hollow product is extruded from the annular gap between the mandrel body 1 and the die 9. During this extrusion, most of the material pressure received by the cover member 5 is transferred from the peripheral wall of the mandrel support 3 to the die 9 to the tool holder 12.
The force exerted by the displacement of the cover member 5 and the tensile force exerted on the mandrel body 1 when the material flows from the welding chamber 11 toward the die bearing slightly act on the central part of the mandrel support 3. Just do it. Therefore, a good extruded product without deformation in the central part of the mandrel support 3 and without uneven thickness can be obtained. If both the mandrel support 3 and the cover member 5 are made of hot work tool steel, their strength will be maintained sufficiently even if they are exposed to a high temperature and high pressure atmosphere for a long time. Also, if the mandrel body 1 is made of cemented carbide, it can withstand high temperatures and
Hardness decreases little even if exposed to high pressure atmosphere for a long time. Tool life can be greatly improved.

As described above, the present invention has the great effect of not causing deformation in the central part of the mandrel support 3, and of obtaining a good extruded product without uneven thickness without causing the mandrel to be tilted or misaligned. . In addition, the mandrel support and the mandrel body can be made of different materials, and if the mandrel body 1 is made of cemented carbide, the hollow product extrusion tool can be It is possible to significantly improve the lifespan, reduce running costs, and improve productivity through hot extrusion.

In the above embodiment, the mandrel main body 1 is tapered fitted to the mandrel support 3, but it may be fitted with a clearance as shown in FIG. In addition, the planar shape of the cover member 5 is not limited to a circular shape that can cover the entire surface of the mandrel support 3 except for the flow dividing hole, but can also be a shape that covers only the main and central part of the mandrel support 3, as shown in FIG. It may also be leg-shaped.
