Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a memory capacity necessary for a Direct Inward Dialing (DiD) service by producing an extension representative group. CONSTITUTION:A private branch exchange consists of an exchange switch (NW) 12, a control device (CC) 11 and a memory 13 etc. and the control device 11 proceeds the exchange switch 12 by a prescribed program process. And in an exchange controlling, a means 110 which converts temporarily a receiving code received from a DiD call to an extension representative group number is providded and when a DiD receiving call is received, an extension representative registration table is indexed by a group number obtained from the conversion means 110 and the receiving call is received by the indexed extension representative. Extension telephone sets 3a-3e consist of one group and the extension telephone set 3a is the representative telephone set of the group. Thus, by consisting an incoming extension representative group, the constitution of a conversion table to a group number is simplified and a registration table is reduced by making the extension telephone sets into a group. Therefore, the reduction of whole of the memory capacity necessary for the DiD service is realized.

When a call is received from a station, the receiving code and extension number usually do not match, so it is necessary to convert the receiving code to an extension number, but in the case of the conventional method where the receiving code and the receiving extension number correspond one-to-one. As shown in FIG. 6, the reception code/incoming extension number conversion table T stores the reception code and extension number from the station in pairs per block.
