Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a high-strength plate material consisting of defectless fine crystals by superposing plural sheets of >=1 kinds of thin sheets formed by plating Rh to Pt, Pt-Rh, Pt-Ir, Pt-Ru or Pt-Au subjected to hot or cold rolling and subjecting the superposed sheets to hot press welding, cold press welding or diffusion joining. CONSTITUTION:>=1 Kinds of the materials formed by plating the Rh to the Pt, Pt-Rh, Pt-Ir, POt-Ru or Pt-Au subjected to hot or cold rolling are superposed and the superposed sheets are subjected to hot press welding, cold press welding or diffusion joining to a prescribed thickness. The plate material which has no blowholes and pinholes, has no inter-layer recrystallization and has a fine crystal grain size and high strength is obtd. The composite material of the noble metal to be used for a crucible, glass fiber bushing, etc. is thus produced.

Since Pt-Au has a property of good chemical stability at high temperatures, it is frequently used for chemical mechanical materials and S4 that comes into contact with corrosive substances in a wide temperature range from room temperature to high temperature. In particular, it is used as a material for making crucibles and glass fiber bushings that require high-temperature durability.

However, the above materials are prone to pinholes and blowholes during casting, and it is extremely difficult to eliminate these internal defects. Also, if the product is used at high temperatures,
The crystal grains become coarser and gradually deform due to their own weight and the weight of other substances. At this time, stress is transmitted to internal defects such as pinholes and blowholes, causing microcracks to occur, and over time, they finally deform. This will develop into a crack.

Therefore, the present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks,

The composite material of the present invention as described above has increased mechanical strength compared to conventional products of the same size, and particularly has significantly improved high temperature durability.
This is believed to be due to the following reasons: 0 metal gradually expands as the temperature rises, and when it continues to be heated, its volume rapidly increases when it exceeds its melting point. Furthermore, molten metal absorbs a large amount of gas and further promotes its tendency to increase in volume, but during casting, on the contrary, it solidifies and shrinks without releasing the occluded gas. Shrinkage holes caused by contraction and released gas during this cooling process,
Defects such as pinholes and blowholes are irregularly scattered within the ingot, and it is impossible to completely eliminate these internal defects using general casting methods. Furthermore, because these internal defects tend to concentrate in localized areas due to their mechanism of occurrence, when stress is applied to them or they come into contact with corrosive substances, they develop into cracks and corrosion holes.

As described above, the present invention hot-forges an ingot containing these internal defects, rolls it to make it thin, and stacks a large number of ingots to form a composite, thereby dispersing the concentrated defects in each layer as shown in FIG. 2. Cracking and corrosion as shown in FIG. 1 will be prevented by subsequent layers. In addition, when the composite material according to the present invention is used at a temperature higher than the recrystallization temperature, the growth of crystals is suppressed between each layer, so that the entire material becomes microcrystalline and the high-temperature strength is significantly improved.

As described above, the composite material according to the present invention is a material with excellent properties such as durability and mechanical strength useful for use as a crucible and a glass fiber bushing.
