Abstract

PURPOSE:To utilize a head set as a telephone terminal equipment by inserting a modular plug to a modular connector fitted to a telephone set so as to connect a microphone and the speaker of the head set to a telephone set circuit in place of the transmitter/receiver of the telephone set and short-circuiting effec tively a hook switch. CONSTITUTION:Modular plugs 13a, 14a, 15a and modular connectors 13b, 14b, 15b are provided to the head set 10 and a telephone set main body, and when the plug 13a (not shown) is connected to the connector 13b, a relay is activated. In inserting the plugs to the connectors, a relay contact 16 closes terminals (a, c) and opens terminals (a, b). A contact 17 closes terminals (d, f) and opens terminals (d, e). Then terminals (g, h) of the contact 18 are closed. Then the contact 18 plays a role of a hook switch of the head set 10. Thus, the microphone 11 and the speaker 12 are connected to the telephone set circuit in place of the transmitter 4 and the receiver 5, and the contact 18 is closed and the telephone set circuit is brought into the outgoing state.

A solution to the problem is to attach a modular connector to a telephone, insert a headset into said modular connector via a modular plug, and thereby use the microphone of said headset instead of the telephone's handset. This is accomplished by connecting the speaker of the headset instead of the handset of the telephone, and shorting the hookswitch by a contact instead of the hookswitch of the telephone.

[Operation] According to the present invention, by inserting the modular plug into the modular connector attached to the telephone, the microphone and speaker of the headset are connected to the telephone circuit instead of the transmitter and receiver of the telephone, and the hook switch is connected to the telephone circuit. Since it is effectively short-circuited and a dial can be sent using the dial sending circuit of the telephone, the effect is that it can be used as a telephone terminal.
