Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease a number of part items in a universal joint and facilitate its assembly, by interposing a wearing resistant cup-shaped lubricating cap, having a seal part brought into contact with a shaft or a bearing cap, to be inserted between the shaft and the bearing cap. CONSTITUTION:An integrally formed cup-shaped lubricating cap 14 is provided between a shaft 12 and a bearing cap 13 of a universal joint. The lubricating cap 14, being equipped with a seal part 16 are brought into contact with a bottom part of the shaft 12, simultaneously serves for oil sealing and dust sealing action. Grease is supplied from the center of a crossed shaft 11, and the grease, after it reaches the lubricating cap 14 through a supply oil hole 17 of the shaft 12, lubricates the shaft end of the shaft 12 and its side surface via an oil groove 15. While it is necessary for a material of the lubricating cap 14 to provide elastivity with wearing resistance and oil resistance.

Conventional technology and intervening points)! Figure 5 shows an example of a conventional universal joint. In this universal joint, bearing caps 4 are attached to four cross-shaped shafts via needle rollers 2 and thrust wires 8. These bearing caps are attached to the holes 6 of the yoke 5, and the number of these bearing caps is held by a nut spring 7.

The inner surface of this bearing cap and the axis of the cruciform shaft have a surface on which the dollar roller 2 rolls and a surface on which the thrust straw 1 wheel 8 slides, so high machining accuracy and a difficult surface finish are required.
The disadvantage is that the manufacturing cost is high. Conventionally, an oil seal 8 and a dust seal 9 were provided adjacent to the 21 dollar mala to prevent leakage of grease and intrusion of dust. As a result, the number of parts increases, the number of assembly steps increases, and the price of the universal joint tends to increase. The objective is to obtain an inexpensive a-nipersalgemini int that is easy to assemble, reduces the number of parts, and is easy to assemble.

(Structure of the Invention) In order to achieve this object, the universal joint of the present invention includes a cruciform shaft and four bearings that are respectively attached to the four shafts of the cruciform shaft and fit into the yokes on the driving side and the driven side. A universal joint comprising a cap, characterized in that a pot-shaped wear-resistant lubricating cap having a seal portion that contacts the shaft or the bearing cap is inserted between the shaft and the bearing cap. ◇ In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, when the seal portion contacts the axis of the cruciform shaft, an oil groove is provided on the inner surface of the lubrication cap, and this seal portion serves as both an oil seal and a dust seal.

Another embodiment is shown in FIG. 8, and this lubricating cap 18 has an oil groove 19 formed on the outside in contrast to the above-mentioned embodiment. The cap slides against the bearing cap 18. Grease supplied from the center of the cruciform shaft flows through the oil supply hole 11 and into the oil groove 19 through the center hole 20 of the oil groove cap 18, and lubricates between the lubrication cap 18 and the bearing cap 18.
