Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a lighting visually checking device from being erroneously operated by external light, by providing a thermal sensor in opposite to a lamp bulb, and by connecting the output section of the sensor to the lighting visually checking device so that the lighting visually checking device is operated by the heat generated from the bulb which is turned on. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle lamp such as, for example, a tail lamp, is composed of a bulb 19, a base member 20 for supporting the bulb 19 by means of a socket 15, and a lens 21 covering the bulb 19 together with the base member 20. In the above- mentioned arrangement, the socket 15 is attached thereto with a first heat-to-electricity converting element 23 for detecting the temperature of a heat generated from the bulb 19 which is turned on. Further, the base member 20 is attached on its inner surface with a second heat-to-electricity converting element 24 for detecting the temperature of the atmosphere inside of the tail lamp. Further, the output sections of these elements 23, 24 are connected to a lighting visually checking means 27 for the tail lamp through the control unit 26. With this arrangement, the lighting checking means 27 is energized in association with the heat which is generated when the bulb 19 is turned on, and therefore, it is possible to prevent the device from being erroneously operated by the external light.

In the case of item 1, since the outside is bright due to sunlight, this light may act on the light receiving part of the optical fiber, causing the lighting visual recognition means to malfunction. If such a malfunction occurs, the lighting visual confirmation means will display that the lamp is in a lit state even if the lamp is disconnected, resulting in an inconvenience that the occupant may erroneously confirm that the lamp is lit.
