あるが、フランジの機能を左右する前記針金の3特性は
、必ずしも相助長するものでなくて、一つの特性を充分
に活かせようとするとかえって他の特性を阻害し、フラ
ンジ全体としての効果或は経済性を著しく減殺すること
がある。例えば、針金の切削性を増す為に針金の硬度を
過大にすると針金の脆性を増して折損し易くなシ、断面
積を過小にすると針金の剛性が減殺されて大きな切削力
が利用出来ない。又弾性と剛性を増す為に太い針金を使
用すると叩きによって表面を荒し、又先端の磨耗球面化
によって刃物性を鈍化しフランジ効果が低減する等、相
剋の関係を回避することが難しい。従ってロールブラノ
シの効果を重研磨作業に期待することは無理であって、
其の本質的弱点が黙認出来る範囲で実用に供されて居る
のが現状である。
