Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit quick treating work for filthy water using a simple device and inexpensive belt by use of a belt shaped filter cloth which is movable only back and forth and squeezing the filter cloth using only compressed air. CONSTITUTION:When untreated water is fed in a pressurized state from a water feeding pipe 14 to the inside of a dewatering vessel 1, treated water filtered by a filter cloth 2 and freed of sludge is collected in a water collecting chamber 11 and discharged from a discharging port 13. When above a specified amt. of cake deposits to the filter cloth 2, high pressure air is fed to the dewatering chamber 1, and the water in the filter cloth 2 is squeezed. Then, the filter cloth 2 is made free by opening a cover 12 of the dewatering chamber 1, and transferred by one cycle portion, i.e. corresponding to the area of the water collecting chamber 11, by a winding roll 23. The direction of the transfer is not always limited in one direction but is changeable optionally if necessary toward opposite direction. Also, the cake is scraped off with a knife 3 by the movement of the filter cloth 2.

Compared to vacuum dehydrators, centrifugal dehydrators, filter presses, etc., these devices consume less power, produce dehydrated cakes with lower water content, and use less polymer flocculant.
Since it does not use slaked lime, it has the advantages of no increase in solid content, less auxiliary machinery, and easy maintenance.
